We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Gonzalez Juan Pablo Ordóñez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura Gonzalez, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As every women I think that my body and my shape its not perfect, also because of the different brand we found on the commerce aren’t totally suitable to every body or the fabrics were nor really comfortable for me or the price was to expensive, all those reason pushed us to created Femme Fit, that is a Women brand for real women. The first idea coming to my mind was: “What if I create a new activewear brand for real women thinking on all those aspect that I dislike of other brands, I love doing sport and as some women some time we don’t find the perfect shape on leggings or we just feel uncomfortable so I Know it would be an amazing idea, lets do it”. After it I started to design every style and I started to think the color and all about the first collection, the was a difficult process to find de fabrics and the color but we made. Then we the first collection came out was totally successful. This feeling made me think that it was a great idea and we started thinking in new collection, new colors, re stock.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am lawyer, while I was studying I always had interest on finances and business administration, how ever due to the difficulty and all the time I spend on the career I couldn’t start another career, how ever since I have this kind of pleasure, I propuse as a gold to start a business. Juan Pablo always wanted to have his own enterprise, so its was almost the same dream. Afterwards the COVID-19 appear and we couldn’t go forward our dream because we must travel to Medellin, we all the manufacture fabrics are. However, this idea never went out of my mind, 9 months later we finally travel to Medellin, full of ideas, dreams and fears. I can’t say that it was a easy process, but the Constance, dedication and perseverance are 3 capabilities that describe us. The biggest lesson we have learned along this beautiful way its that you should never give up for your dreams, if the path become harder you change the way you walk and the strategies but never give up, it makes you stronger, bigger, more patient, it makes you take decisions faster and on a intelligent way. All the challenges we have had along the way we have faced together, always trying to find the better solution for it. Every challenge have learned us all the capabilities we have and how big Femme Fit gonna be. We want to all our the world recognize Femme Fit as a huge activewear enterprise and made everyone knows that we work only with mothers head of household, and hat every person who try femme fit could feel the essence and the history of the brand. Those are one of our main goals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our hometown is call Popayan “the white city of Colombia” we move to Bogota the capital of Colombia, how ever if we are visiting Popayan we will go to the city center where is the colonial city every house and building its white there. We will visit some museums which are very interesting,there are some whit all the history of the city, there are others with all the main actors of justice of the independence time born in Popayan. Also we must go to all the churches, because of their infrastructure and the history they are amazing, and off course we must go the “Pueblito patojo” that is a little recreation of the city but all the infrastructures are smaller than the originals and we will eat empanadas de pippin, rellena, campus y carantanta, those are the typical dishes of Popayan. And we can finish our day in the “morro” that its the highest place in town were we can see the whole city and the astonish sunsets that take place in the city.

If we are in Bogota I will take my best friend to see my fabric, and the we can go to eat lunch in “La candelaria” in the city center of the city, its beautiful because all the houses are old and ancients those that start literally with the city, all the beginning of the city take place there, and also the history. Afterwards we will go to the City Hall and the to watch “La casa de Narino” where the president of Colombia handle the country, this infrastructure is beautiful as some others building on the city center. Afterward we will go to Monserrate, the highest place in town, from the top you can admire all the city. and finally we will go to Usaquen, its like downtown in other cities o the area where the ir a lot of commerce.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our main motivation was each other, first this dream started by a own dream but after in the process of the creation of the brand, Juan Pablo saw all the effort that I was doing with it and he took place on this dream , after it, every day we motivated each other, I think our my motivation is each other. However, in this beautiful road we have met important people on the textile industry, on of those people is the founder of NK industry, this is a textile company who manufacture to his own brand and to other brands in Colombia. When we just met him, we though how amazing would be to work with him, I mean by this, how amazing it would be if he manufactures our collections, but the minimum quantity was to high for as at that moment so from that moment we decided to become as bigger as him. Afterwards we started to manufactured to other people’s brands. But really the main recognition to all our growth is due to all the effort and experiences of our workers all of them mother head of household and also due to all our buyers, all the community we have created.
