We had the good fortune of connecting with Julio Otarola and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julio, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea of opening my business came right after the pandemic hit, On may the gym I used to be a trainer closed fue to covid-19 and me & my collegues were out of jobs I decided I needed to create a system where I can adapt to our new ways of life knowing that Covid-19 was going to be with us a long time. I opened my studio in october 2020 with the idea of one on one service where people can do either personal training/pilates and have an stretching/massage session with a massage therapist right after training in the same facility, with people trying to recover whats normal for them after a couple of months of lockdown we were able to offer the coming back to fitness and relaxation people needed.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I moved to the US in 2013 and by 2014 I was certified as a personal trainer. Fitness has been my passion since I was a kid, it has taught me many lessons in life as of teamwork, learning how to love the process and being patient and many things more so my goal as a personal trainer its just to correlate the feeling that first got me into it. Being a trainer is more than just giving someone a workout. Its a lot more mental than people think, motivation comes and goes so I definitely take my time in building that self-confidence along with excercise with a client and that has been a reason of why I have done so good with many of my clients. I try to motivate people to constantly get out of the comfort zone as I do myself and I think that would be something I would love to share with everyone, sometimes just getting out of your comfort zone can bring so many good things in your life as learning/physical or any experience the person is looking for.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my friend to the beach to watch the sunset. I definitely love anything that has to do with nature, could be climbing, biking or just walking in the beach after a picnic.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I truly think you become the person you surround yourself with so my friends and family have had play a huge role and motivation in my life.
