We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah ELQA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am half french and half moroccan where I was born and raise. I worked as a stylist for ten years. Art is a family story because my ancestor is the french fauvist artist Maurice Devlaminck. A few years ago I decided to leave the fashion world for painting. My double culture and my artistic past has a lot of influence on who I am today.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My double culture brings me a lot to create my artworks. I think it’s a particularity that makes me different from other artists. I grew up in a country with a very rich culture where there is great diversity in the population. I was able to meet a lot of people and draw my inspiration from all these encounters.

It wasn’t easy for me to get there because I’m a self-taught artist so I had to learn everything on my own. I also learned to surround myself with the right people to be able to move forward faster and carry out all my projects. Art allows me to travel a lot around the world and to exhibit my artworks internationally such as my latest exhibition in New York which took place from April 6 to 10, 2022. You can meet me soon in Miami and Los Angeles for my future exhibitions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ll take her shopping in the Marais which is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Paris, lunch at Le Café Marly which offers a superb view of the Louvre pyramid.

In the afternoon, we will visit le Musée d’Orsay which is one of my favorites museum. And we’d end up with a nightshow at Le Moulin Rouge.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout first of all to myself because it takes a lot of courage and effort to carry out your projects, it’s a daily job that you must never give up, I also dedicate it to my family who supported me a lot throughout the years in my various projects as well as my husband who brings me a lot and who advises me in what I undertake. Also, to my 3 months old baby Enzo who is giving me energy everyday.
