We had the good fortune of connecting with Claudia Montoya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Claudia, what do you attribute your success to?
Passion. The passion I have for my craft is just what makes everything flow and run smoothly. Is that passion that clients feel from me in each and every event I design for them.
I always say that I work out of passion and love for what I do, instead of working solely for a living.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
10 years ago I decided that corporate life was not for me anymore, and that I didn’t want to work for someone else. I sold my car and invested ALL my money buying tables and chairs to start my party rental business. It was a pretty rushed decision and I didn’t give myself a chance to actually make a business plan, or even reason where I wanted to get with this business idea.
The business plan and vision came along the way as I was growing and learning and most importantly, finding my true passion, EVENT DESIGN.
This profound passion that I have for events, it’s what has set me apart and made a name for my brand in the industry. I live and breath events. I dedicate my time, attention, love and creativity to my clients. I dream with every project, I make it my own.
I am grateful to have found my place in the Romance and Love Industry and to have the opportunity to be part of people’s most special moments, help them materialize what they envision for that important celebration.
In these 10 years of learning and growing I’ve had my share of challenges to overcome. It hasn’t been easy. We had to overcome an economical and political crisis in my home country that led us to close the company for several months. Then we got hit with COVID and had to close again for a couple of months.
The hardest part of it all, is knowing that you have families depending solely on this income… oh! that is a huge responsibility.
How did we got thru it?
I had to re-invent the business strategy and most importantly, I re-invented my self.
Being adaptable and flexible is the key to maintaining your business afloat for a long time.
External situations would always have an impact on our businesses, but if we are ready to adapt and re-invent ourselves, we would be more than capable of keeping a successful business.
So this is what La Clau is about, love and passion for the amazing Romance Industry.
My purpose is to make my client’s dreamed celebration, come true.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wooo I’m not the going out type of person… but I’ll make sure my friend lives the Miami Experience.
1. Brunch at Seaspice Miami.
Mimosas and great food while we catch up.
2. Shopping!
Sawgrass is a must when looking for great deals.
3. Beach day.
Get a tan in the Crandon Park Beach. Enjoy a quiet and calm day at the beach.
4. Night out at the popular south beach area.
Always love to start at the Cleavelander for a couple drinks, and then check the scene at Mansion.
5. Boat day.
Rent out a boat and head to the keys. Spend some time at the sandbar and enjoy the people and music.
6. Nice farewell dinner.
Enjoy a light and casual dinner at Casa Tua, delish.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To Mom and Dad. (Fatima & Luis) These two amazing human beings are my source of inspiration and motivation.
They’ve taught me thru their example, that dreams don’t work unless you do.
I come from a family that didn’t have a good economic status, used to work from an early age and convinced that hard work and consistency are the bases to build our own success.
So, to mom and dad, for teaching me that we become what we work for.
