We had the good fortune of connecting with Renzo Cocchia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renzo, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
It is definitely our product. The great differential of La Birra Bar is a 100% fresh and homemade product.

We bake our own buns daily, we grind our meat, we make our patties, our sauces and toppings.

All of this with the passion, love and respect we have for our burgers.

We love what we do and serve people with the product they deserve.

Our customers realizes this as soon as they take the first bite.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
La Birra Bar was born in a small neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2001, in the midst of one of the toughest crises the country has experienced. Since the 90’s, the family has been involved in the food business and with a lot of effort and the fundamental support of our clients, we have been able to go through very difficult situations. It has not been easy at all.

In 2015 we started to do some tests with the burgers. Until then, we served all kinds of homemade meals with my grandparents’ recipes. But we decided to bet on this new product that in our country did not have the popularity it has today. Little by little we were trying different versions of what would be the burger at La Birra Bar, and that was going to change the entire local scene forever.

Our customers quickly fell in love with this new product and word of mouth started happening very quickly. Little by little, some influencers, press and local media began to approach to verify what was happening in the Boedo neighborhood.

Very soon, it began to spread that in this place of about 800 square feet, you could enjoy the best hamburger you’ve ever tasted.

This is how we received people from all over Argentina and the world, and in 2017 the expansion began. First with a second location in the Boedo neighborhood, with a much greater capacity. And then conquering all the neighborhoods until we reach our current 13 stores and counting.

In August of the year 2021, a dream came true. La Birra Bar opens its first location in the United States of America. In the beautiful city of Miami, Florida.

Just 6 months later, at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival, we won the People’s Choice Award.

We are currently ready to open our first stores in Spain and Portugal.

We have no words to explain everything that is happening, after a history of so much sacrifice. Without a doubt, there is always a reward in the end.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a sushi lover and I think Matsuri is definitely a place to go. Sushimas just opened a dine-in location in Aventura too, and it’s one of the best I’ve had in Miami. If you’re craving a good pizza, La Leggenda Pizzeria in South Beach is a great spot. Barceloneta, is a good place for Spanish food. Hachidori for ramen is also excellent. And to end the whole experience, you cannot miss out on trying the best gelato from our sister company Dragun Gelato, created by master Matías Dragun, multiple champion and podium finisher in the Gelato World Cup.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
La Birra Bar was born as a family business, and each person who joins our team is a person who joins our family. There would not be enough time to thank all the people who are part of this, we have a very close working group, each one of them is very special to us. Chefs, cooks, runners, servers, R+D team, Marketing, PR, franchisees. All of them give their best effort every day to make La Birra Bar bigger and bigger and we couldn’t be more grateful.

In the same way, we maintain a very close relationship with our suppliers, we understand the effort they make to give us the best, we understand the great challenge that this represents and the challenges they must overcome on a daily basis. So they are also a fundamental part of this.

And last but not least, our clients. Without them, none of this would be possible. They are responsible for the fact that every day when we wake up we are grateful for what we do and they give us enough energy and motivation to continue with this and to be able to offer them an increasingly better product.
