We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Guerrero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was thinking about a way to express my emotions and also is a nice way to visibilize realities that most of the times we ignore when we are walking in the streets, so why not to start shooting with my camera, to wander around the cities I visit, to show the part that nobody talks, that everyone ignores but they know is there. “Not all those who wander are lost” – Gandalf.

I got this tattoed in my arm, and I feel represented with this, everytime i’m walking around with my camera, i’m not lost, i’m walking, searching for the decisive moment, as Cartier-Bresson used to say. So, starting to shoot around showing realities, trying to understand different perspectives of life, you know, there’s a whole world around and sometimes people just don’t like to see a little bit more, they just like to be in their square, I like to show them that there is more than that, to make their eyes see a little bit more, a little bit far from their realities.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Photography is a passion, everytime I grab my camera I feel like I’m walking in the clouds, it’s a hype everytime I’m pointing with my lens. Took me a while to be here, a lot of practice, rejected photos from contests, it wasn’t easy at all, I mean, we all have challenges and we need to learn how deal with them. Art in general, but specially photography have taught me about patience, perserverance, empathy, to know people, different cultures, different realities, different lifestyles. I want the people to know that there are more than what is around them, that we all have different stories and that we don’t know what we all lived, this is why I like to show, with images, different perspectives from the cities I’ve visited.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Good question, even that I’ve been living in Miami for only 3 years and the change was really hard for me, but I’v found some places that I really enjoy going. If I wanna grab a beer I have a couple of breweries that I always visit, Lincoln’s Beard, MIA are the ones that I always choose. I’m little obsessed with pizza (this is another thing I love to do, prepare pizza) so I’m always searching for the best pizza in town, haven’t find that yet but maybe Strange Beast and Mister01 are the ones, for now. I really enjoy being outdoors and in nature, so the Everglades is a nice place to spend my day or just to go a watch a sunset, colors in the sky are beautiful here in Miami. Museums are always on my list and my favorite museum is the Rubell Museum, so far, their collection is really impressive, I recommend everybody to visit it and if you want a drink and a good time, you can go to the Corner Bar, nice place, nice music, nice people.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends, who were always supporting me, cheering me up, always thanks to them, because they always give me really good feedbacks and ideas. Thanks to my Dad and my brother, for the support, I’m where I am not only for me, also for them, they’ve been that booster that I needed. Thanks to my Buddhist practice, for making me a better human, for helping me see everything from another perspective, with love and empathy.
