We had the good fortune of connecting with Chandler Swift and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chandler, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson my my career has taught me thus far is you get back what you put out into the world. You have to firmly belive in what your brand or message is. This creates authenticity and builds trust with your audience. Especially when it comes to social media people immediately make an assumption based off of your “vibe”. If your negative or unauthentically you it shows. If your selling a product your not passionate about or wouldn’t use yourself – it shows, I believe the more authentic you are the more consumers will be attracted to you or your brand. There were times I didn’t really belive in myself and it would come across. The months I didn’t. belive I could do something were the times I had no money coming in or new opportunities. I have throughout my life dabbled in many ventures some I knew weren’t right for me and they instantly failed. Ive taken brand deals and had to post Ads I knew weren’t the best and guess what they didn’t do well. You have to love what you do and other people will see that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always thought of myself as a creative person. I have dabbled in art, dancing, music, modeling and acting growing up. I found a real passion somewhere along the line in social media. I belive I always liked social media because it was instant. I enjoyed creating images and instantly sharing them. I currently manage over 5 businesses social media accounts as well as my own. I think I am most proud of the fact I make a full time living off of social media. I started on Instagram at 13 and I remember it being no where like it is today. There was very little money in content creation and a very small pool of actual influencers. Watching it all grow and eventually making it into my career is the most exciting part to me. It was not very easy though. I say all the time to new clients social media is a 24hr 7 day a week job. I get overwhelmed and feel guilty taking time off because there is literally no time you cannot not be making money. I learned along the way as much as you enjoy your online life you have to enjoy day to day. I often take days off or even a couple hours from looking at a phone. This helps calm the mind. If I could tell the world anything about me is what you see is what you get. I try to be as authentic as possible with everything I do and post.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I believe I am one of the best NYC tour guides. First night in the city I would take them to Catch for food and dancing. This is one if my favorite clubs and most requested spot when people come visit for the first time. The next day we would do shopping in Soho and lunch at Serafina. Then drinks in the village. We would then travel uptown for day 3 I think the best way to see NYC is walk straight up 5th ave. See Rockefeller Center, Times Square and end in Central Park. UVA in the upper east side is the perfect spot for a quite Italian dinner. I rarely venture to Brooklyn but I would to walk around Dumbo and then head to Willamsburg. If its nice out The Williamsburg hotel has the best rooftop for dancing, cocktails and an insane view of the city. Finally I would say we should see a Broadway show because whats a New York City trip without a Broadway show and a stop at Joe’s Pizza.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would dedicate my shoutout to my mom. She’s my biggest cheerleader. She constantly encourages me to try new things and never give up. I started social media at 13. She was my photographer, editor and manager. She taught me business skills and always encouraged me to never just be one thing but to always expand my horizons.
