We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Allman Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For as long as I could remember I’ve wanted to be my own boss. I’ve never done well with the concept of someone dictating what my time was worth based on their business. However, life doesn’t always allow us to achieve things when we’re ready, instead they tend to always happen right on time. In 2017 I found out I was going to be a father. While basking in that news, filled with joy and excitement, something clicked, I needed more income. The 9-5 job I had was not enough to support the lifestyle I dreamed my child would have, I wanted so much more for him! So, I took a leap, doubled down and bet on myself. I achieved this by applying knowledge and information I gained in years prior, working as an installer in the audio/video, home automation and low voltage trade. From here, F.R.E.S.H. A/V & Design was born, I wanted the name to be something worthy of an acronym that clearly exemplified the business and its core functions. Fabrication. Remodeling. Entertainment. Smart. Home. Audio/Video & Design.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Home & Business Automation is a luxury everyone in today’s world craves. F.R.E.S.H AV & Design aims to create an experience that caters to convenience and functionality. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want their lights to turn on and off via voice command or control the audio in a different room with the touch of a button? With each client, I strive to leave a lasting impression that they can share with their friends and family, hence our slogan “Perfection is the only option”. As a contractor in South Florida I’ve learned that listening to your clients needs and wants ALWAYS come first. If you can apply that method to each individual you encounter, you will earn their trust and gain a life-long client.
What I am most proud of is the network I’ve created. I have met some of the most amazing individuals along the way including, high profile celebrities to extremely successful business owners from all walks of life.
This journey thus far has been monumental to say the least. It’s about balance you know? I’ve have the ups and downs, the easy and the hard but that’s all part of the process of growth in business. You can’t enjoy the good days if you don’t experience the bad ones. Consistency is the fuel I’ve used to get where I am today. No matter the type of day, type of job, or type of client, I’ve always practiced consistency.
You can become anything you want to be in life if you just apply yourself and never give up! Nothing is unattainable, unless you believe it is. I hope my story inspires others to tap into their own greatness whether it be in the same field of business, or something completely different. I want all of those who want more for themselves to achieve more!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in South Florida so the options are endless down here. Those who know me well know that I’m a car enthusiast to an extreme. First stop, FortuneMinds garage in Fort Lauderdale, FL they build some of the sickest show cars in the country including a few of my own personal ones. I spend plenty of time and money here in between jobs and clients to feed my car fixation. Some of my favorite places to eat are BAE Korean Grill in the new Hardrock Guitar Hotel, they have an A5 Waygu steak that is hands down the best steak ive had in my life. In that same hotel there is a center bar where I would definitely have my friend try their Remy VSOP sidecars. Another favorite spot of mine is Tropibowl, they have the best açaí Bowls there, the condensed milk drizzle is a must on anything you order! Tap 42 and Yardhouse are also other restaurants we would visit as they both have great drinks and their own unique food item selections to choose from. The beach, when visiting South Florida the beach is a must. From Miami to West Palm Beach the views are priceless and the people can get a little crazy so there’s always memories to be made. In Brickell, there’s a Hotel called East MIAMI that has a secret lounge. One of those ” If you know, you know” spots. The ambiance in that place is flawless, with creative drinks, speciality tapas and a mellow music mix playing in the background. The Pub in Pembroke Pines, The Aventura Mall and Boca Town Center are all a places I would have my friend experience during their visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Son, Carter Zane Allman. A few key friends that have always supported me along the way no matter what, My family, and last but not least my clients! This SHOUTOUT is for all of you My son above everyone pushed me to do things to become a better me without saying a word. His energy and unconditional love affected parts of me I didn’t know existed. For him failure isn’t an option, I must succeed to provide for you and to become a role model he can be proud of as he grows older. To everyone else, I can’t thank you all enough for believing in me especially on the days I didn’t believe in myself.
