We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana.Briana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dana.Briana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When starting my business I had one thought in mind and it was how I could create generational wealth so my children will never have to experience some of the lack I’ve had to face. I wanted to give them something that would out live me. Something that was not materialistic, but will teach them valuable life lessons and offer a life of financial freedom that I never had. I made a conscious decision when my son was born to commit to figuring out a way to execute this desire of mine for my children.
Starting my own business was and still is a very selfless act that I am very proud of.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Touched by Taedyn (TXT) is a balloon and backdrop business who’s focus is to touch any space and make it come to life exactly how you envisioned it. Balloons have become such an artistic way of expression for me. I love styling them, shaping them, hearing them snap right into formation, and the over all finished presentation. I am most proud of the consistency that we have been able to sustain. Most business don’t make it past a year, and we continue to generate clientele, and improve with each opportunity. It has not been easy navigating through the challenges that come with running a business. I have taken many losses, many nights fighting past doubt and imposter syndrome, many failed attempts and slow seasons. The key was faith and consistency. Actually believing that I could and I will prosper in what I set out to do was game changing for me. It seems as if the very minute I started to believe that I could not only style balloons as good as anyone else, but also run an efficient business, was the minute things started flowing the way it should. I became more consistent and it catapulted me to a new space of thinking and functioning as a business. The biggest lesson of the journey has been to know my worth and not sell myself short. No longer playing small but understanding that the service I provide it valuable and necessary.
TXT is a small business with a big vision and we are only growing and improving day by day. It’s not about where you start it’s about how you start.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok so I actually suck at this because I do not get out much (still working on it, don’t judge me lol) but we will for sure have to go down south. Some of my favorite places to eat would be, Tap 42, Bar Rita, American Social. I live for views as well, so Shooters Waterfront and Rooftop @1WLO have very nice scenery great for pictures. Victory Lounge is also a great place if you are looking for a LIT brunch with great music and vibes and drinks. Any beach around town are all beautiful and we would have to go. Im at Aventura Mall almost every weekend. It’s huge and have a lot of high end stores. Ok I think that’s all I can think of right now.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My two kings that I have the privilege of raising. To my first love, shout out to you for always being so flexible. Since you have been born our life has been filled with many transitions and instability, however with each trial and test you always find a way to adjust and be ok through all the changes. Thank you for being so resilient and loving me through all my flaws and shortcomings. You are the sweetest and you always remind me that you are my biggest supporter. To my baby boy, you are literally perfection in my eyes and God truly knew I need everything about you. I am still blown away at his timing. Thank you for giving me yet another reason to go as hard as I do. You are my constant reminder that it’s not over until God says its over. Thank you for bringing so much joy, laughter, and light to our lives. Without these two I would not have the courage, faith or motivation to do and be the woman I am today.
