We had the good fortune of connecting with Mykel “MeekFro” Trent and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mykel “MeekFro”, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I really cannot see myself dwelling in any other field…I choose to pursue a creative career for a few reasons. Everything is art, whether we want to face it or not. We are all creators. A creator is someone or something who brings something into existence. Some of us create art, visions, ideas, inventions, humans (mothers), bonds, laws, ways, on and on. This world cannot ruin smoothly without creations. Really, the creative field chose me. From a young age until now, I’ve realized creativity is the air I breathe constantly. I love all things creative, but I’ve been pursing my love of video creating. Documenting (for myself or brands) to leave a mark, to inspire, to uplift, to provoke therapy, to be therapeutic, to storytell, to heal, to break down, to feel, to not just survive but to live and be present in every moment. Creating allows time to stand still. Whatever we create, it’s forever…and If one does their best to destroy what was created, it will still live on in someone’s mind in its most authentic form.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I create content for a living. I do photography, videos, creative consulting, creative directing, brand management, hair-styling, modeling, and more. I really don’t ever focus on what makes me different. I’m just me. I might have heard how I’m different, but it catches me by surprise no matter how much I hear it. I’m constantly told about my aura. I’m told my aura is attractive and being in my presence is calming and peaceful. Even those who simply watch my videos and have never met me a day in life, their testimonies match up just the same. I just focus on being the best me I can be, and that’s what sets me apart I guess. My photography, my video creations, my creations all help tell a story. These stories let people know they’re not alone. I vow to always be vulnerable and open to my audiences via video for the exact reason. I want people to know they’re not alone and that it is okay to speak their truth. I’m most excited about how far I’ve come on social media. My platforms are growing, I’ve collected lovely business relationships, friends, supporters, etc. I’m looking forward to working with even bigger brands. None of what I’m doing would be possible if my mom hadn’t have bought my first professional camera when I was younger. This really lit a fire in me that hasn’t burned out. It never was easy but always enjoyable. There are times where I doubted myself and felt like all of this was a waste but I continued to look back at my older creations and remained inspired. I’ve learned that everyone is not for you. You can’t see the beauty in everything and everyone. Always remember your worth. Learn your worth and then continue to heighten it. People and brands will try to low ball you, but standing firm and believing in your work will take you a long way. Lastly, always improve yourself. Always. Compete with yourself. I want the world to know that I’m here.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Many individuals have contributed to what I am, but my parents (Mr. and Mrs Stapleton) have invested the most into me. They believed in me and still do. I do not know where I’d be without them. Also, giving honor to God, the ultimate Creator. I love You.
