We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime Bunny McKnight and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaime Bunny, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am born and raised in St.Petersburg, Florida. Growing up my Dad was a hard working business man who had his own company. I learned strong work ethic growing up. My first job at the age of 15 was walking to the neighborhood veterinary clinic where I cleaned the kennels while learning everything I could about veterinary care and medicine.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the founder and one woman show behind the 501 c3 Pawlicious Poochie Pet Rescue. My rescue is going on its 10th year rescuing small old, hospice, critically injured and handicap dogs from kill shelters. My rescue is NOT corporate and grant funded, its all grass roots! I do not use fosters or have any help, Along with running my rescue I am a full time, award winning real estate agent for Coldwell Banker. I also am a full time pet sitter! I work hard, 7 days a week and lots of long hours. Nothing has ever been handed to me, I know the value of hard work. I’ve dedicated my life to savings the dogs that nobody else wants the old and the sick dogs. I pour my heart and soul into everything and anything that I do and it shows.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a downtown St.Pete girl! This is my city being born and raised. There are beautiful beaches to enjoy. The Pier is a huge focal point downtown from the rooftop dining to morning walks catching the sunrise. The city also puts on lots of special events at the Pier so there is never a shortage of things to enjoy! St.Pete is known for all of its unique restaurants from high end to authentic taco joints. Let’s not forget all the seafood to be enjoyed here! The Dog Bar is also a fun spot in St.Pete where you can drink and bring your furry friend! Beach drive is the hot strip in downtown St.Pete with bars, eateries and shopping! My fave spot to hang is Tryst where the bartenders know me and always have a spot ready for me! The Saturday morning market is also a fun spot to shop on Saturday mornings to get fresh vegetables and eat your way around the market! So much to do in St.Pete!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up in a predominantly male dominated business environment did not provide many mentor opportunities for a young female like myself. However I was lucky enough to meet Lynn Lotkowictz about 14 years ago when I applied for a support position at Florida Trend. It was under her wing I learned about how hard work is the only way to accomplish goals, there is nothing free in life-everything has a price. She taught me loyalty. She helped guide me through many personal growth spurts. She led by example. Even after her retirement and my pursuit of a new career, she still plays a major role in my life.
