We had the good fortune of connecting with Belchapo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Belchapo, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
You don’t give up ever. In life you’re meant to be someone and to find your purpose, and your why. You must keep going and pursue your dreams.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Everything that I’ve have earned in life came from the mud, I’ve been through it all I’ve seen it all. Learning how to change habits was difficult to overcome and took hours each day to be better. Evictions, homelessness, flooded basements, mattresses on the floor, no lights, watching me and my loved ones struggling wasn’t easy, we all had to step up to the plate and grind. I thank my mother for everything, she was able to provide for me and my 3 other siblings and all I can do now is just support her with all that I have today. The main three things I’ve learned during my journey is stay consistent, get comfortable being uncomfortable and always strive for greatness no matter the outcome. I just want the world to know that it’s gonna be okay just let god work and trust him. In this world anyone can do anything they want to do if they can imagine it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to Miami first because that is the most popular spot. I’d show them around ocean drive and show them the clubs on the strip and probably run into every celebrity on the strip so they can take there pictures. Honestly I’d say the Florida keys there’s so much to do there and it’s definitely a vibe if you wanna go on a little “baecation”.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly I’ve always been doubted in everything that I do in life. I’ve asked and looked around for advice from people I look up to and been let down, but I never gave up. I wouldn’t have even started making music if it wasn’t for my good friend bfm. He took me to my first studio and I did my first song with with him. I ended up meeting my engineer jay at a different studio and from there everything leveled up, I met pokko and he taught me how to write music better and I ran with it. Jay taught me how to be melodic and change tones at certain points and sing. So shout out to them, Bfm, jay, and pokko, shout out retro and the rest of IV(Influential visions) the stars are aligning.
