There’s a ton of research around how setting habits can help us conserve energy because it reduces the number of decisions we have to make in a day. However, not all habits are created equal and so we’ve asked our community to tell us about the habits they have been most effective for them.
Sean Ward | Acrylic painter, animator, gallery owner & musician
The main habits that have helped me succeed are consistent studio hours. Without practice, no matter how unrelenting, I never would have come up with some of my very best ideas! Then, the next habit that has helped me succeed is not sticking to the exact same style of art. Every so often, after I make a plethora of paintings, I mix music or I design animations or sometimes I just break out the sketchbook to see what comes from random doodles. It helps keep new ideas flowing in and prevents creative block from getting bored of doing the same thing over and over again. Read more>>

Linda & Ian Jerrell | Art & Custom Framing Shop Owners
Heritage Art Galleries is a Fine Art and Custom Framing shop owned by husband and wife team Linda and Ian Jerrell. A: I think we work really well together as a team. Not just as a couple, but as business partners too. We’re definitely both creative, but Ian is a lot more technical and thinks of the functionality of the art design whereas I think more about how the design will make you feel. We play to each other’s strengths and balance each other. Ian and I love learning and developing ideas and projects together. We always have our antenna up, looking for ways to be creative and think outside the box. Read more>>
