We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaina Feingold and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaina, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
That many therapists are working through their own stuff, which is often what led them to be a therapist in the first place. Mental health practitioners frequently have to navigate their own difficult feelings with support from their own therapist. This in turn allows them to hold that space for their clients.

What should our readers know about your business?
My psychotherapy practice, Mindful Reflections, began as a way to help women and moms overcome life barriers and find the greatest version of themselves. I know first hand what it’s like to struggle on the motherhood journey. I experienced fertility challenges, a traumatic pregnancy, and postpartum mood issues. Despite all the curve balls thrown at me, I managed to persevere and not let those experiences define my life. I did it through processing old wounds and learning to integrate my brain and body. That is what I provide my clients. At Mindful Reflections we don’t just talk and rehash old wounds, rather we feel, experience, and get to the chore of the issue.

I am proud of the work I am doing with my clients because they don’t have to spend years in therapy retelling their story. Rather, they get to experience deep and meaningful transformation from the inside out. I am excited to continue supporting my clients and guiding them on their healing journey.

My journey has not been easy. I went through many ups and downs along the way. I have overcome those challenges by continuing to move forward, and not quitting, even though every part of me wanted to. I made the decision that I would not interpret my failures or mistakes as incompetence, but rather an opportunity to learn and make my practice better. I have learned that I need to be true to myself and my practice’s mission to truly help women and moms. I also learned that I am not the right fit for everyone, and it is okay to provide referrals when my approach does not jive with someone.

I want the world to know that my journey has been filled with the unexpected. However, all that uncertainty has led me to places I could have only imagined. Unfortunately, you can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend staying with me for the week we would spend as much time outside as possible! I would take them to the beach in Boca Raton, We would walk through Wakodahatchee Wetlands and see some alligators, walk around Atlant, check out some art fairs or shopping on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach. We would eat sushi at Yama Sushi. We would also eat at Lemongrass Asian Bistro and UB Thai.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people to acknowledge in this shoutout. I would like to appreciate my parents as well as my husband and kids. I also would like to give a big thanks to the Brainspotting community. I wouldn’t be here without any of them.
