We had the good fortune of connecting with Enrique Ferrer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Enrique, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Never thinking that I knew it all. Understanding that every experience is a learning opportunity.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an audio engineer and music producer with more than 10 years of experience in the field. I am also a drummer. I believe I got to the point that I am today thanks to my education at Middle Tennessee State University, where I got my Master of Fine Arts Degree in Recording Arts and Technologies. In parallel with that, I have had the opportunity of working with GRAMMY Award-winning engineers that I have seen as mentors and tried to learn from them as much as possible. The process has not been easy, the entertainment business in general is not easy, but it is a road I have enjoyed a lot. I am also very proud of being able to work with amazing artists and bands in genres that I have always enjoyed listening such as pop, rock, metal, funk and electronic music,

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends are coming to Miami, there are plenty of places I would like to take them… One of them would be Strange Beast, a local brewery around the Kendall area that serves one of the best beers I have ever drank, paired with their amazing pizzas. There is another interesting place closer to Downtown called Dante’s HiFi, it is a super chic/underground speak-easy place where you get to listen to high quality music while talking to other peers. If they wanted to eat, I believe you need to go to Cafe Versailles on 8th Street, best Cuban food in Miami. Now, if they want to listen to live music, I would take them to my own Open Music Jam, we typically do those once a month in the Allapatah area. And just to end the week, a visit to Lagniappe to drink wine and listen to jazz would be nice too.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My three biggest mentors in the audio engineering field, my friends Leonardo Partipilo, Miguel De Donato and Eduin Andrades a.k.a “Espuma”.
