We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariel Siverio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mariel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Photography has been my passion since I can remember. It came to me very naturally a long time ago taking photos of people and places, as way to express myself and freezing moments forever.

Time passed, and I had 2 kids so I started creating my own memories through my lens.

The motivation of starting my own business was taking my art to the next level, investing not only in my own knowledge but photography equipment.

Being able to get known by clients that came back to me year after year, in every life milestone is truly a blessing.

Being a photographer is a life process where you reinvent yourself through the years.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
During the pandemic I started with my creative side. Since we weren’t able to have any photo sessions, I did some amazing photoshop compositions, my kids were my subjects and youtube my teacher.

Creativity came to me in many ways, and felt really good expressing and being able to bring to reality what was created in my own mind.

But photography comes in many ways, there are thousands of techniques so you evolved, you change and learn.

If it’s easy? No it’s not, but having a good challenge always motives me.

I remember, just after the quarantine, I wanted to start creating in my own studio.
After years of working with natural light, and practicing photoshop for hours I decided that was time to get my next challenge.

So I had a pregnant friend that wanted maternity photos and sent me photo samples of what she wanted, well that was my motivation to start investing in my own indoors lights and photography studio equipment.

I prepare myself, bought my first equipment for studio photography, also took classes for skin retouch and lighting.

That session was a success, my friend-client was so happy with the results, and since then I got expanded my business.

What I want the world to know, and specially anyone who has doubts about starting their own business is that when you put your love and passion into something the universe will provide.

Don’t give up on yourself, believe in you, you will never know what are you capable of doing if you don’t try.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This city has lots of amazing places for having fun.

I am a beach lover, and we are surrounded for amazing beaches.
Also, I love good food so as peruvian I would take my friend to my favorite peruvian restaurants.

I love Vizcaya gardens, Design District.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My children. I am a mother of an incredible boy and a very special daughter that was diagnosed with Retts Syndrome in 2018.

Photography helped me not getting lost in the way of learning how to cope with her disability but a big and beautiful motivation of being able of not getting lost of my own self in that process.
