We had the good fortune of connecting with Lyndah Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lyndah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has been one of the most influential factors to my life. I took the risk of closing the gap between my long-distance relationship and moved halfway across the world to be with my (now) husband) and we’ve been married for 10+ happy years with two beautiful little girls. When I got here to The Bahamas took the risk of picking up a camera and shooting a wedding with no photography experience whatsoever and it became my career. Recently, I took the risk of opening my own studio space with no idea how business would do in this small town and the response and support has been overwhelming.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It definitely was not easy getting to where I’m at as a creative. As a black woman, I’ve heard a lot of “no’s”, and have been overlooked numerous times. I think persistence and consistency has been most important in my journey. Being a bit stubborn and remaining true to my vision has helped me stay on track. I’m most excited about being recognized as a Godox global educator of light and Magmod ambassador, as well as recently opening my own studio “Lightworx Creative Studios” earlier this year.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to my wonderful husband, Doug, who has supported and encouraged my crazy ideas since day one
