We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra Paz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexandra, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
An entrepreneur by definition puts everything they have at risk in order to be successful in what they do. Without risk, there is no reward. Taking risks in your life is an important factor for achieving your goals/dreams. Taking risks have gotten me to where I am today physically, mentally, spiritually and financially. I believe I have always had that entrepreneur / risk taking mindset from such a young age. I always enjoyed that “high” feeling you get when you don’t know what will happen 100% of the time but have a gut feeling things will somehow work its way out. Its a pretty addicting feeling to tell you the truth. When I was 25 years old I started my first “official” company, SOWA MEDSPA, in Boston. Before I started I remember contemplating if I wanted to do it because I saw my other friends taking trips, traveling, partying and enjoying adult life after college. I knew starting this company I would be working day in and day out, in addition to finishing up Grad School, to make it successful. That is exactly what I did, and I am happy to say that today it is running well with the help of my amazing employees – so that I can open up a smaller practice in Edgewater Miami.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started SOWA MEDSPA LLC back in 2019. SOWA MEDSPA is a boutique Medspa conveniently located in the South End of Boston. Our professionals know that aesthetic health is not just about injections: it’s about using a holistic approach and specialized treatments to enhance our clients’ natural beauty. Our mission is to help our patients accomplish these goals in a painless, compassionate, and efficient way.

When I started SOWA MEDSPA I was 25 years old and in my last year of Grad School at Boston College. I first started as a concierge service medspa where I would go to homes and do “botox parties” or cure people of their “hangovers” with my vitamin IV bags. I was a one women show for a year and a half – with little to none business experience. I would force my sister to come to informational pop-ups I did at apartment buildings so I wouldn’t look lonely at my booth. I would also force my partner at the time to be a model for trainings I needed to take in order to get advance certification in injectable techniques. I didn’t know what I was doing in terms of business but I knew I needed to do something to make it work. I found a retail location 4 months after starting the business – maxed out two of my credit cards and did it. I put effort in developing my skills as an injector and treated every client with the upmost respect.

Fast forward three years and now SOWA MEDSPA is running on its own allowing for me to open up a smaller injectable location in Miami, FL (my hometown)

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a difficult question to answer as Miami is filled with so many amazing places to go and activities to do! I would definitely recommend breakfast at Pinocchio on the Bay as the ambiance there reminds me of my backpacking days across Europe. I would then recommend some pool/beach time at SLS South Beach or the 1 Hotel! For Brunch/lunch I would visit the Little Hen in Midtown. To end the day I would check out SUGAR rooftop or Marion Miami.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It is hard to dedicate a shoutout to just one individual as I believe that all entrepreneurs have a small group of friends and family always supporting them. For me, those individuals consist of my parents, the father of my child, my siblings, my staff and Rachel (our SOWA MEDSPA manager) and of course all my friends/clients who support me. If it wasn’t for the amazing community I have around me, I do not think a lot of my ideas and success would have been possible.
