Meet Liber Cuervos | Violinist & Arts Administrator.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Liber Cuervos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Liber, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Music has been an essential part of my life. As a child, I was surrounded by music at home. Growing up, I realized that the best way to express my emotions was through music. That’s when I started playing the violin, and from there, I have had an incredible journey as a musician, educator, conductor, and arts administrator. Another important reason is to engage, inspire, and mentor younger generations by using music as a tool for empowerment and social change, especially in underserved communities.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Life as a performing artist and music educator is very challenging. Not only because you must constantly work on your craft but also for being a very competitive field. With hard work and tenacity, I have overcome challenges and achieved many artistic goals, such as being part of one of the most important orchestras in Venezuela for more than 15 years and performing with world-renowned artists. I also had the opportunity to tour around the world with different ensembles and teach in important music institutions such as Interlochen Arts Camp and Miami Music Project. Now, besides my artistic career as a musician, I have the opportunity to give back to the community as an arts administrator, specifically as a Program Director of Miami Music Project, one of the largest “El Sistema” inspired music projects in the U.S. I am also the co-founder and owner of Liber Music Events, a music entertainment company for social and corporate events.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is a very diverse, vibrant, and beautiful city, with incredible places to visit, such as Coral Gables and Coconut Grove, where you will find an array of top restaurants. Also, historical sites like Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Deering estate, the Biltmore Hotel, and more importantly, their beautiful beaches such as Sunny Isles, Crandon Park at Key Biscayne, and the iconic Miami Beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One important organization that has helped me in many ways during these past years in my career is Miami Music Project, a non-profit music organization for which I am the Program Director. Being part of this non-profit has been very rewarding, especially when teaching music to our outstanding students.
