We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheneil Desquotte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sheneil, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
When I really sit & realize how much I enjoy braiding & doing hair in general, I try my best to keep going. Most times I will have no clients for months and months. While many times I am fully booked. I pray & try my best to promote my business myself while promoting others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been braiding for 4 years now. I use to braid very slow and it used to take me hours to finish one client. Now I can take multiple clients a day. I came out of my shell when I had to learn to professionally talk to people with proper professionalism. Many people would book with me and not show it. I took the loss and learned from that and moved forward. I am very independent. I love to make my own money to be able to take care of myself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place I would take my best-friend to is Sawgrass Mills, the mall . They have a large food court that has a variety of food. They have many shopping outlets. I would then go to Dunkin’ donuts and order a Dunkin Coffee. We would then later go to a nice sports complex to walk & chill. Lastly, we would go to the Guitar Hard Rock Hotel to watch the lights and book a room.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shout-out to my dad , he always encouraged me & kept me going and reminded me of my worth. I would love to thank my mom and my aunty, my mother is a hairstylist and I learned from her. My aunty has supplied my business with items that contribute to braiding. My other aunty would provide me with words of reassurance. I would love to give a shout-out to my best-friend, he has played a big part in helping me bounce back when I felt like giving up, he also is a barber. His instagram is @_fade.gad
