Meet Blake Warman | CEO & Founder | The Blakery

We had the good fortune of connecting with Blake Warman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blake, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
From the day I started college, I knew I didn’t want to work a typical 9-5 desk job, and I wanted to be my own boss. I always found myself to be a creative individual that could contribute to the world in unique ways. Launching a cookie company was not my intention when I realized that a desk job wasn’t for me, but it fell into my lap and I ran with it; I never looked back.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Blakery is the “Ultimate 6oz Cookie”. With 12 standard flavors and 1 rotating cookie of the month, they are stuffed and hand decorated. People describe them as “designer cookies that taste amazing” which is exactly what I was going for when I was deciding on a brand image. I wanted something that looked like art but tasted even better, and I think that I achieved it. I am most proud of the fact that I am 22 years old and started this business in college from the ground up, by myself. Starting the business was certainly not easy and I am still faced with daily challenges and hurdles, but I wouldn’t be growing if I wasn’t constantly trying to overcome these. Constant support from my family, friends, and ex professors keep me excited to expand my brand and share my cookies with the world. The most important lesson that I”ve learned along the way is to not trust anyone. I’ve had many people create false promises in which I dedicated time and energy to something that simply was not true. I want the world to know that it’s okay (in fact, great) to indulge in sweets when you’re craving them- I started this company while losing 80 lbs and I still love enjoying sweets!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d start at one of my favorite restaurants (I am a huge foodie, clearly) and then take them to the beach, pending the weather is good. I love to end my day at Soho House, grab a drink and unwind. I also love shopping, so Design District is a must see.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ever since I was little, I looked up to my father as a source of inspiration. Coming from practically nothing, he built a successful career for himself as an ENT and facial plastic surgeon. He worked through every battle that was thrown his way, including cancer.
