We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriela Groso and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In October 2020, I started working as a customer service representative in a vegan bakery. I was working their while I finished up my Bachelor’s degree in Supervision and Management with a Concentration in Human Resources. Even though I was nearing the end of my college career I was still unsure what I wanted to do with that degree. However, I did know that I wanted to run my own business. Since, I was a young girl I have always loved to bake and be creative. It wasn’t till March 2021 that I realized that I could start my own vegan cake business. I chose to make all my cakes vegan because I myself was born with a dairy allergy and it was not till, I worked in the vegan bakery that I realized how many other individuals have allergies to animal products. So, I decide to leave my job at the vegan bakery and take a risk to start my own business. That is when Cake Craze Bakery was born. I began my research on all types of vegan baking products that I could use. Spent days trying to find the perfect recipe and had plenty of trial and errors. Cake Craze is dairy, egg, peanut, and soy free, and we also have gluten free options. I started to promote and market myself first by letting all my friends and family know about my business. I thought the best way to get clientele was by word of mouth. Two weeks later I had my first order. I was ecstatic, and nervous because I really wanted my customer to be happy and enjoy their cake. Luckily for me they loved their cake. The best reward any baker and entrepreneur can receive is happiness from their customers. Every cake I make is made out of pure love.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am most excited about continuing to grow my business. I have so many ideas that I am excited to introduce to my clientele. I started my business during an ongoing pandemic which had its challenges. Many businesses have experienced good and bad weeks including myself. I just continued to push through every week and keep my faith, I was not going to give up because I knew that one day things were going to get better. I want people to know that I started Cake Craze Bakery because I care about the well-being of others. I believe that no matter what dietary restriction you may have that you should still be able to eat amazing CAKE!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of the most interesting place in Miami that are must see are Downtown Miami, Miami Beach, and Coconut Grove! In Downtown I recommend visiting the Frost Science Museum, Bayside Marketplace, Brickell City Center, and attending a Miami Heat Game. If you’re in Miami Beach, Ocean Drive is a something you have to experience, and enjoying the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel is a nice relaxing thing to do. Lastly, if you’re in Coconut Grove you must eat at Planta Queen that is one of my favorite vegan restaurants.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without my parents (Juan Carlos and Linda Groso) support I do not think that I would have been able to start Cake Craze Bakery. They saw the passion I had for starting my business and like me they envisioned that Cake Craze Bakery could be something big. They pushed me to follow my dreams and as long as I was happy, they were happy and wanted to support my endeavor.
