We had the good fortune of connecting with Yesenia Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yesenia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is a trait that I’ve had since a child for various reasons. Taking risks is important when wanting to elevate past measures beyond your current circumstances.
Faith in god (higher power) and in yourself first but right after comes the risk for the reward. The goal begins with a thought actions requires Sacrifice.
Adrenaline runs through my body with every risk I’ve took yet it’s the best feeling yet.
The process builds character.
Let me just say this , without no risk there is no reward for nothing in life that has true meaning and longevity.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Everything I create is straight from the heart. Fashion is the best way to express how you feel internally.
I’m authentic , I’m the one person who would purposely go against the flow of the current.
Professionally it took a lot of reading and making mistakes in which then forced me to relearn all new areas within myself.
Looking deeper within to acknowledge parts of yourself you hinder because of may reasons.
I want the world to know god is real god is love and I’m not where I need to be fully yet but I’m on my way there and I can feel I’m not to far. My brand spunky gypsy brings life mixed with streetwear into high fashion. Stay tuned!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is a cultured wave of night life and sandy beautiful beaches. I would stay in the brickell area the east hotel to be exact or fountainbleau located on Miami Beach.
Both city lights and the sound of crashing waves late night seem to ease me everytime.
My favorite spot to eat breakfast would be little hen in midtown miami and for dinner playa miami on south beach or sexy fish downtown.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God deserves most of the glory and appreciation for where I am today in my life. I wanna also pat myself on the back for being so strong and disciplined I value my own company. My family through the ups and downs has played a big role in my journey.
Close Friends a few of them I call family weather we speak everyday or barely at all.
I’m thankful for everyone who has played a role in my life.
