We had the good fortune of connecting with Shirley Powell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shirley, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have been entrepreneurial most of my life, which is all about taking risks. Calculated Risks!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
LaJeanell is a natural skincare regimen, science backed with superior ingredients, formulated as a vegan, sustainable beauty essential line of makeup. All with simple application and extremely effective results. I founded LaJeanell to provide quality skincare solutions. LaJeanell inhibits beauty that transcends over time. It is a niche Indie and women owned business. Beauty/health and wellness with an antiaging, antioxidant and natural healing properties. LaJeanell provides a solution for busy and healthy lifestyles. Luxury, niche market with “value added”, experience and /or products.

I have been entrepreneurial much of my life. I enjoy working and being creative, while helping and impacting others. I have a passion for beauty and fashion. I wanted to share my daily regimen routines that are simple and effective for the health conscious. I created with purpose a skincare line and makeup essential kits and bundles for solutions for busy and healthy lifestyles.

I have suffered from debilitating chronic depression, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and autoimmune disorders. I went into a vocational rehabilitation program to restart and get self-sufficient again I took a giant leap in my 60s to create a new brand I am passionate about that I know helps others. This endeavor really helps me in my daily life and purpose.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My itinerary is lengthy as there are so many splendid places to go, see and do. Morikami Museum and Japanese Garden in Delray Beach, Florida is my top recommendation.

Wakodahatchee Wetlands, East Atlantic Avenue (need to go more than once), walking through the Mangroves to reach our magnificent East Coast beaches and an airboat ride through the Everglades. Hang out at Mizner Park, in Boca Raton, and historical Old Key Lime House in Lantana.

Proceed north to Palm Beach Island, go shopping on Worth Avenue, dine and cocktails at Ta-boo restaurant, Cafe L’Europe, The Breakers and the iconic Colony Hotel. Enjoy the Kravis Center of the performing arts. Head a little bit north to Jupiter inlet Lighthouse & Museum and enjoy Jupiter inlet for dining and drinks at Square Grouper Tiki Bar and Guanabanas Island Restaurant, and maybe we will catch some wonderful local musician bands throughout our itinerary and do some dancing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my family for encouragement, love and support for always believing in me throughout my life career/endeavors. My ultimate perseverance is in my Faith with God, who deserves all the credit The divine power and provisions, when I need it most. Let’s say everyday.!
