We had the good fortune of connecting with Pam Shaia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pam, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Tails at the Barkery sponsors over 20 non- profit animal rescue organizations providing much needed funds for the critical care and surgeries for the many animals in their care.

What should our readers know about your business?
I researched, consulted with veterinarians, and finalized my plan for Tails at the Barkery.

Tails at the Barkery is a small, quaint, pet boutique specializing in gourmet treats and designer wear.

The biggest challenge has been engaging the community to embrace that Historic Cocoa Village is the only “pet-friendly” area in Brevard County. It’s a real work in progress and slowly gaining the attention deserved.

When my husband and I relocated to Central Florida twenty- two years ago, I had no idea how “unfriendly” Brevard County was to pets! I was totally taken aback by “the no pets allowed” signs posted everywhere. My heart was broken as my Shelties were not “welcome” anywhere. We were forced to drive to Orlando just to walk them around. It was then that I began my “quest” to change my feelings about “pet friendly”.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Walk on the beach Airboat ride to see the alligators in their natural environment.
Shopping in Historic Cocoa Village
Watch a “rocket launch”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All of the “right paws” in my pack All the dedicated leaders and volunteers for the non profit animal organizations
All of the businesses and community leaders that support the numerous fund raising events
All the supporters who attend the fund raising events
All the media support
