We had the good fortune of connecting with Felicia Demers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Felicia, what do you attribute your success to?
Something that I believe attracts my clients to me and my business is the passion I have and authenticity. I listen to what my clients needs are and bring their vision to life to the best of my ability. I am also all about building a personal connection with my clients so they can feel comfortable with me. As a photographer I meet strangers on the daily and I have to make sure they are comfortable enough with me to get those relaxed and candid photos. My sessions and weddings tell stories and each gallery I deliver is unique to the client.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My Clients are my art. I am included in some of the most important days of peoples lives. I see their most vulnerable sides and I document it and then edit it to capture those feelings in just a still image. It is so much more than just clicking a button. It has not been an easy path but I have overcome so many life challenges and chose to look on the bright side even if the sun wasn’t shining bright that day. It is all about your outlook on life and that bleeds into your business, I have always tried to maintain a sunny, warm, accepting, and loving personality with my clients to know that I am here for them and that they are important to me.
I am so proud of how far I have come, I recently did a photoshoot for Teen Vogue, I have put together many photoshoot events, I have been featured and published in articles including Peerspaces top 10 photographers for Jacksonville, Florida , I am traveling around the world photographing weddings and events, and have met some incredible people along the way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I personally lovee my little town here in Flagler Beach, Florida. There are a TON of entrepreneurs/small businesses so you truly can’t go wrong.
For breakfast I always tell my clients about the Ragga Surf Cafe right next to marineland, the employees are just the kindest and the food/drinks are heavenly.
My go to order is the Dawn Patrol with a Mid-Tide, and their cinnamon pop tarts are so tasty!
The Flagler Beach Winery is also another favorite spot, you can try their wines or wine slushies and order their toasted bread and pesto olive oil as a snack!
I would then drive them down A1A and by high bridge road because you can beat that view, especially at golden hour!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Once I graduated High School and I recognized my plans were not aligned with my passion, I had to step back to re-evaluate what I was doing and where I wanted to go with my future. When I actually looked around me I realized that I was surrounded by entrepreneurs which includes my Father. My Father, Scott Demers, has his own business Integrity Pressure Cleaning Plus.
He has always lead each day by praying over his employees and really making sure they are taken care of. On his client side, I see how he truly listens to them, even if its non-work related, they truly trust him. I recognized that personal connection is a powerful and humbling quality to have in a business and that I can do anything I put my mind to.
