We had the good fortune of connecting with Chorizo Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chorizo, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work life balance has absolutely changed. I used to pour 1000% into my jobs and what I’ve learned is that it isn’t sustainable or healthy. While my work is still a top priority, I make time to rest and put my time into other things. As an artist who creates original work, it’s extremely important for me to take time to recover. Otherwise it is extremely difficult to nurture a create spirit while burnt out.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a journey of learning, Learning about myself, other people, the world and how to make better art. What sets me apart is that I bring my experience as a painter, a traveler and a seeker into my tattoos. I always aim to listen to the needs of a clients and I make that a priority to educate people about tattooing practices and how to change them for the better. It has absolutely not been easy but I believe the efforts I’ve put in have paid me back. I’m learning how to care for myself and cater to my clients in the best ways possible. I want the world to know that tattooing is changing. Tattoos and the places that provide them are not dark scary places but places where you can feel see and heard. I provide a place where you can talk to an artist who will commission art for your tattoos. I provide a space where women, queer, disabled people , minorities and anyone can feel safe and understood. I am an artist changing the scene and expectations of what tattoos are. So let’s make art for your next tattoo together.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am vegan so I always try to connect my clients with local businesses and environmentally conscious places. Organic food kings is ones of my favorite restaurants to get vegan junk food. Nine Five Pho is perfect for some boba and vegan pho options.
