We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Grant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I studied abroad in Florence, Italy last fall and wanted a platform to post my travel photos. I began posting a little last summer but much more consistently while I was in Europe. I had so much content because I traveled to a new country almost every weekend! It started as a photo diary for myself to keep track of and remember my travels, but my page began getting more traction the more I posted. I started gaining more followers and people began asking me for travel recommendations. That’s when I started taking my page more seriously and creating my own little travel community on Instagram. Now that I’m back in the USA, I post throwbacks from my previous travels, local content, lifestyle content, and of course wherever I visit somewhere new. I’ve currently been to 20 countries and am hoping to go somewhere new soon!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been very fortunate to have had so many amazing experiences and travel to so many places so early in my 20s. Now, my goal is to share what I’ve learned with others through travel tips, recommendations, and engaging content. I’ve started to branch into lifestyle content a little more too with some brand partnerships. In the future, I would love to start a written blog and do more travel-based partnerships with boutique hotels or experiences. I’m still learning, but as my Instagram community grows I’m excited to see where life takes me and how I can use my platform to help myself and others. Because I’m still in college, I offer a perspective on traveling as a student and how to incorporate this passion for trying new things into my daily life. I’m the type of person who always embraces change and loves taking risks, as well as learning about new cultures, places, and ideas. This is the message I want to spread to the world, about how important it is to push yourself and take risks. You never know what you might learn about yourself or others, and that’s one of the most important things when it comes to self-growth and improvement. I believe in lifelong education, and traveling is a great way to do this.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I recently visited Miami and found a few places I’d definitely recommend. Gianni’s Restaurant at the former Versace Mansion was a highlight of our trip, which had amazing Instagramable food and interior. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe which came in a pecorino cheese wheel, and the waiter mixed the pasta in the cheese wheel and then plated it in front of me. For dessert, I ordered tiramisu which the waiter also put together at the table, so I got to see each ingredient he was including. It was such an elegant place and felt like an experience, not just a meal. I’d also recommend a boat cruise around Biscayne Bay to see the million-dollar celebrity homes and a beautiful view of the city!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my parents for always encouraging me to travel and try new things even from a young age. I wouldn’t have the confidence or independence to go where I’ve been today without their support. You have always been there to push me, guide me, and inspire me, and I can’t thank you enough!
