We had the good fortune of connecting with Carley Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I became interested in health and nutrition after being diagnosed with Lyme disease and using food as medicine emphasizing gut health to help heal. I was so empowered in the progress in my healing just based on diet and lifestyle changes emphasizing gut health that I started Fairy Gutmother®, so I could help spread awareness around nutrition and help others. I am passionate about promoting the gut health lifestyle as it is more than a diet, rather, a combination of food and environment that play a role in the health of the microbiome.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I recently moved here so I haven’t had a chance to check out all of the fun spots but I love Bedner’s Market, I am a huge fan of supporting local farmers and ranchers and love they created an amazing market from their farm.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family is my biggest support. They are my best friends and source of encouragement. I am so grateful for their love and guidance, it has helped me maintain faith in myself and my business and provides me the courage to persevere.
