We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniella Madriz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniella, how do you think about risk?
I am a firm believer that taking risks are necessary in order to experience growth. A lot of people live in their comfort zones and are not open to change. They rather stick to the safe side of things. But it’s like, how will you ever know if something can make you more money or more of a better person if you don’t take the risk? Even if everything doesn’t go as planned, you learned from it which is still gaining at least something. That’s why I feel like you can’t ever go wrong with being open to taking risks.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is centered on providing high quality lash strips and care. All lashes are custom designed and manufactured in China. We provide top quality mink lashes in 3D, 5D as well as 25 MM. For those who are unaware, those are different lash lengths. Our most popular lash length is 25 mm and it’s most commonly used amongst celebrities and make up artists. We aren’t a service – so we do not actually apply the lashes for our customers. We simply sell the lashes for them to use and apply as necessary. People think that having a lash business makes absolutely zero money or that it’s way too easy because of how many girls start their lash or hair brand nowadays. But the truth is – it’s not. We’re always thinking of how to market ourselves and make our future collections better than the previous. Moreover, getting here wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. There were some terrible mistakes I made business-wise where I could have saved a lot more money if I was just patient, so, I think overall, having a business has made me more patient and more open to ideas of others. I’ve also learned to be absolutely direct and leave no questions unanswered when doing business because I feel like leaving any type of gray areas just leads to confusion and a poor job done. Ultimately, it’s your brand at the end of the day and no one will care about it the way you do. So it’s important to make sure the people you are doing business with aré providing high quality work. Overcoming the challenges I’ve faced along the way have been tough but they’ve been absolutely necessary in order to get me to where I’m at now. I don’t want to say I’m not as nice of a person as I was when I first started – but I think being in an industry, especially where there is a lot of competition, has taught me to have a tougher back bone. I’m always watching the actions of others because I’m trying to avoid bad business as much as possible. My brand is growing and it’s becoming more popular. In turn, big influencers and artists are starting to notice my brand and are reaching out on how to support or become a brand ambassador. It’s an amazing, crazy feeling to be noticed for your work. But it’s important to always be neutral and unbiased because in the past, I’ve made the mistake of doing business with people just because they appeared to be super talented and I was a personal fan of their work. I quickly learned that talent doesn’t always mean good work ethic or good business. So you have to take that into consideration.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh wow. Miami is definitely a great place to visit and they have a lot of cool, fun places to eat, drink and hang out at. I would definitely take them to one of my favorite spots which is Tap 42 at Aventura Mall. I also like El Otro Tiesto in Downtown Miami because they have amazing food and good, positive vibes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, I wouldn’t be here without the support of my best friends. Although they may not realize this, I feel like having them as friends is what keeps me anchored, motivated and determined. They’re genuinely happy for me and as am I for them. I would also like to shout out my son for being the light at the end of the tunnel. He keeps me focused on making the next move because I know he depends on everything that I do.
