We had the good fortune of connecting with Deborah Joseph and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deborah, how do you think about risk?
Over the past three years as an Independent Hair Stylist I have learned that risks are genuinely a part of life. It is up to those who are confident and willing enough to take those risks and turn them into opportunities. Risks elevate your perspective and show you what you’re capable of, which is usually much more than we originally think of ourselves. If I didn’t take risks I would not have got this far to live in my passion so early in my life. Because I have become more comfortable taking risks I have been able to expand my horizons in both my personal and business life while living a life of service to others. Sometimes you have to bet on yourself in order to win.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
DJ Styles was established in 2017 and started out as pro mobile hair styling service. I saw a need in my community for clients who couldn’t travel and decided to create a solution to that problem. I have traveled to over 33 cities within Miami & Broward and serviced over 200 clients in the comfort of their own homes. Since the beginning, DJ Styles’ focus has been to remain consistent and to always take initiative to refine my business for the betterment of my clients, which in turn increases productivity. Being transparent with my clients also not only creates a strong relationship but it also gives me room to receive feedback in order to improve. Improvement within my business has become much more apparent as the years pass and has presented the opportunity for me to move my brand into a my new salon studio at Studio Elements. I am excited to have a salon setting for all my clients to travel to, and I aspire to continue to expand by creating hair products, providing new hair and wellness services, and teach others how to make easy money like I do no matter where they are.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To show my friend a good time in Miami the first places I would take them is the beach. Enjoy the sun and sandy beaches while snorkeling deep in the ocean. We would then get delicious sushi from one of my favorite restaurants called , “Moshi Moshi”. Our last stop would be a few rounds at the bowling alley while we eat and drink some more to end the night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In part of being comfortable with taking risks it is imperative to be confident. Being sure within yourself to know that no matter what life may throw at you, you will keep pushing forward to your dreams. I haven’t always been this confident within myself. With help from my confidence coach Shea Zeigler, (Instagram @queenofwhatido) I have been able to shift my mindset to completely trust myself to give myself all I deserve. She has played a significant role within my personal and business development. It doesn’t hurt to have someone remind you to believe in yourself again.
