We asked folks to tell us about their favorite quote or affirmation and to tell us what it means to them. We’ve shared some of those responses below.

I believe our thoughts and words are extremely powerful, so saying affirmations to myself daily is very important. Throughout the day, I say to myself, “I am,” followed by something positive. For example, “I am talented, I am successful, I am beautiful, I am loved,” etc. When I catch myself thinking or saying something negative about myself, I immediately stop and say affirmations, like the ones mentioned above, to put myself in a positive headspace. My favorite affirmation is “Don’t set yourself on fire to keep others warm.” Every time I encounter a roadblock, an issue, or a situation where I feel like I question my value/self-worth, or I am made to feel uneasy, I ask myself– is this benefitting me or them? I’ve learned not to treat everything as an emergency to the point where my mental health and bandwidth are stretched thin and I no longer have a relationship with myself and my thoughts. Read more>>

I always start my day with encouraging myself. I read to fill my mind , my spirit, and to remind myself that every obstacle is an opportunity . So , I have a kind of Motto .. I often tell myself Do it scared ! That simply means that I will not let my fear of failing, or speaking or being in an unfamiliar space keep me from doing , going , or trying anything that will move me closer to my goal . Read more>>
YES! It’s “NO is a complete sentence”.
In my industry, when you are first starting out, you want to say “YES” to everything in order to build your network/brand/connections, etc. The most difficult evolution is once you have established yourself and people begin to come at you from every corner with projects, collaborations, co-writes… learning the value in politely saying “NO’ to the ones that aren’t going to directly benefit your immediate path and that you don’t have to provide a lengthy explanation about WHY other than for right now, it’s just a NO.
