24 hours in a day, 168 hours in a week. Junior investment bankers regularly work 80-90 hours a week. Many other high profile professions require the same level of commitment. Often those on the outside claim that working 80-90 hours a week is bad/wrong/terrible/silly/etc but we’ve spoken with so many folks who say working that much has been the best decision of their life – it allowed them to develop a deep and strong skill set far faster than would have been possible otherwise. In other words, by working 2x the hours, they were able to generate 5x or more the rewards. And depending on where you are in your career, investing heavily in your skills and competence can pay dividends for a long time.

In the past year I had a baby so I have had to adjust EVERYTHING! Coming to work is now the easy part– when I get home is when the hard work kicks in. I have really had to be cognizant of working late, attending after hour events and spreading myself too thin. I want to make sure that I am present as much as possible for not only my daughter but my husband! I like the new balance. It is not perfectly manicured yet, but it is a work in progress. When I first started my career a few years ago, I really thought I had to be working 25/8 in order to be successful and get to the place I want to be. Doing so usually leads to burnout, which is a tough thing every creative person has to deal with. Read more>>

Over time, my work-life balance has undergone significant changes. Initially, when I started a new practice and had responsibilities in multiple hospitals, my work consumed most of my time, leaving little room for personal life. It was a continuous 24/7 commitment for several years. Read more>>

The work life balance is very crucial being a new business owner still working under other companies. Although I am independently contracted by the jobs I work outside my modeling business, it does take time away from it. The time invested in both is highly important. I had to acknowledge that whatever jobs I work are temporary and I must use that income to invest in my own business aside from paying bills. Read more>>
