We had the good fortune of connecting with jennifer lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success is in the quality of building lasting genuine relationships with my patients. Its apart of my job role to provide the best optometric care, but to also be able to empathize and get to know my patients. This is shown by the loyal patients who have followed me to every practice that i have moved to. The reason why i believe this is important is because i add an extra layer of trust to our relationship. I treat my patients as if they are my loved ones, i’m honest, genuine, and wouldn’t provide or advice any type of treatment if i wouldn’t do it myself or for my own family.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always had an altruistic personality and knew that which ever career i decided to pursue it would have to be a field in which i would be able to give back to the community. In college and in optometry school i was always involved in volunteering either at boys and girls club or lions club international for vision screenings. It was my passion in giving back to the community that lead me to pursue optometry. I was an employee at lenscrafters where i provided vision screenings and eyeglasses for school children. Optometry school was not easy since i had moved to puerto rico for schooling. It was extremely challenging, however it made me who i am today. I was fortunate enough to learn a new culture, language, and optometry! I believe my experience has opened my mind to more than just optometry but to the world. I had such an unforgettable experience becoming an optometrist and now i am able to expand my care to english and spanish speaking patients. My experience in optometry school led me to volunteer internationally in Domican Republic and Vietnam. I’d like the world to know that stepping out of your comfort zone only expands your potential. What is a life worth living if not by giving.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
friday: Id begin by taking them on a bike ride to south point park followed by grabbing lunch at pura vida. We’d spend the day in the beautiful ocean in south beach. Afterwards we’d get ready for a delicious dinner at Mila’s or Uchi in wynwood. Id take them to sexy fish for a night out.
saturday:
we’d take a day trip to titusvile and along the way go to a fresh water spring. once at titusville we’d go kayaking at the bioluminescent bay at night.
Sunday:
id go to the 1 hotel for a spa day for massages and facials. lounge around at the beach and have lunch.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shout out to Dr. Joanne Kim, who is not only my dearest friends but also colleague. She has guided me through every step of the way in optometry school and as an optometrist. She exemplifies what a quality optometrist is with the care that she provides, her ambition as a business owner, and her ability to balance work life balance.
