We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristina Denegri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cristina, what’s your startup story? How did you start your business?
I’m a self-taught artist, at the beginning of my career I together with a group of artists opened a workshop where we developed different kinds of art disciplines, I started doing ceramic but I really soon figured out that my real passion was painting, a discipline where I express myself intensely. We did a lot of art exhibitions and travel together to exhibit, it was an incredible experience working with all those artists. I started my own Interior Design company on 2015. As an artist and entrepreneur my passion and motivation was and is at the moment my carrier as an artist so I decided to focus my Interior Design company on adding contemporary art to the design projects and suggest homes and businesses owners the idea to invest in art and at the same time that art has the function to decorate beautifully their spaces. I had the potential of being an artist myself and that fact have contributed to the success of my company and also has added an artistic touch to the projects. My first client was an art collector that had bought one of my artworks at an art exhibition. She hired me to decorate her home and she end up buying five additional paintings for her home.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My style is Abstract expressionism. On my art I express humanity’s internal search for themselves, the meaning of life, the false paradigms in what we base our lives, the connection that exists between us through the energy we transmit also I apply a theory around human emotions, I’m a very strong believer that there is nothing most important in this world of ours, but that of the quality of life that emotions bring to us, therefore my work seeks to represent and manifest my personal beliefs and theories of the human psyche using my own style consists of open and loosely strong traces, symbolism, human figures, geometrical shapes, dripping, masked faces, fictitious characters, vibrant oil colors and texture to enrich, enforce and project those ideas. It’s been a long way since I moved from Peru to United States 18 years ago at the beginning it was so hard but on my mind and heart I have a really strong feeling and determination to be successful. I’m always a big dreamer. I’ve been inspired by we humans because I believe we posses immeasurable powers and our possibilities are limitless. I’m very happy to see that many people around the world is discovering and experimenting this reality and sense of inner power more and more each day.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I’m Peruvian and love Peruvian food. I think I will take my friends to an excellent Peruvian restaurant in the Tampa Bay area then I will invite them to visit the Tampa Museum of Art and finally we can go to the beautiful Bulla Gastrobar Terrace to get some drinks.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband Bosko, my Father Cristian, my kids Cristina and Bosko and my art collectors en general to whom I give big thanks for their support.
