We had the good fortune of connecting with keith grella and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keith, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I have an extreme passion for what I do, and I will always do the right thing. This is important in dealing with insurance companies and insurance claims on a daily basis. In our line of work, we are dealing with other peoples’ disasters and we need to have and show concern, empathy, and compassion with what they are going through. We are trying to help them rebuild their lives after a fire, hurricane, tornado or other natural disaster. My company is committed to maintaining superior standards which include Integrity, honesty, values, character and trustworthiness. Our purpose is to help others. To prove this, ServiceMaster by Glenn’s won the 2019 BBB Torch Awards for Ethics out of 4,500 BBB businesses in South Florida. We recorded the highest score ever in the 20-year history of the award.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our people separate us from other businesses like ours. They have a great commitment to our company and are always on call 24/7/365 to help others when needed. What we do is not easy. It requires great dedication, hard work, leadership, focus, trust in their coworkers, resilience, perseverance, integrity, teamwork, and focus. I am most excited about our expansion into the entire South Florida market. We will be able to serve the entire market from Vero Beach to Key West. This has taken much planning, systems, processes, and vision to create this opportunity. I have been in the property damage restoration industry for basically my entire life since I was 10 years old when I started to first help my dad, and it has not been easy. I have helped out others from 12 major hurricanes, throughout the country, and have completed over 15,000 projects which include water damage, floods, fires, hurricanes, and mold. There are many challenges in the restoration industry, but my over 30 years of knowledge of handling basically every type of disaster sets me apart.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to take in a Miami Heat game. Beforehand I might go to Il Gabianno for a nice dinner and drinks. Then after the game we go to South Beach to experience Miami’s culture and start at Mango’s for the liveliness and show dancers, and even might end up at Ted’s Hideaway late night to play pool. I also enjoy having lunch and shopping at Bal Harbor during the day. Carbone, Prime 112, and Joe’s Stone Crab are always a must. The calamari at Carbone are the best I’ve ever had. I would definitely ride bikes or get a run in along the boardwalk starting at 5th street and Ocean Drive. The old Versace Mansion is also fun to visit for dinner. I always go to Little Havana to stock up on cigars and take in the Miami culture there as well. I will never miss a Miami Boat show. I am a big boater and I love to take my boat to the South Beach Marina and walk to all the great restaurants.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

My Father Glenn, who started the company in 1979 when we moved to South Florida from Ohio, always taught me that when you help your client repair their home, you help your client repair their heart. I am certainly very proud of our growth and success, but what I think I am the most proud of is that we still have the same ethics my father preached to me as a child. Treat your clients like they are your mother, your sister, or your brother. Understand, listen, solve, support… care. I wanted to include my dad’s name in the company when I bought the ServiceMaster franchise, thus the name ServiceMaster by Glenn’s. He passed away of a sudden heart attack in 1995 at the age of 56. It is important to me to continue to conduct my business the way I was taught by him and my mother.
