We had the good fortune of connecting with Lennette Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lennette, is there something you believe many others might not?
As young children, we are asked what we want to be when we grow up. The answer most parents expect is a doctor, a nurse, a lawyer or any career that earns you a high income. People often say, if you are going to college, make sure its worth the time and money and pick a career in which you will become rich. I have to say I disagree with this advice. I strongly believe in following you heart and your passion. I went to school and obtained two degrees in fields I have little interest in and I did it to try and live the dream of having a good career and to make my parents proud, but in the end I followed my heart and passion and no money in the world can make me walk away from it. The best advice I can give is, do what you love and the money will follow.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Have you ever gone to a cake store and saw a display of the most delicious looking cake and desserts and just said to yourself, I have to try them all. You ask for the most appealing slice of cake and when you take a huge bite its dry, flavorless and just bland. Here is another scenario, you are at a party and they serve the cake, its not a pretty cake but you take a bite and its the most delicious cake you’ve ever had. This is what sets me apart from others. Not only do I delivery eye catching realistic details but the most moist layers of rich deliciousness in every bite. I use only the freshest ingredients and my secret ingredient which comes from within, passion. Being where I currently am has not been easy. When I began, I had zero training or experience in this field. I had days with many tears and stages of feeling like a failure. I knew I had two choices which were quit or keep pushing and perfect my product. The amount of details I put into every piece I create is as many quote. “Mind-blowing”. With every cake I make, I challenge myself to be more creative and I find myself turning ordinary things into amazing works of art. I want everyone to know that I am just an ordinary person, who still doubts herself and yet manages to create every amazing piece that leaves my kitchen. If you hire me for your event or party you are not just getting cake and desserts you are getting an experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A perfect afternoon to spend with my out of town friend would be browsing through mom and pop shops. Breakfast at the cutest hole in the wall, followed by lattes and pastries . A night out is always exciting so def having a drink at a cute restaurant followed by dancing would end the night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I feel there are many people that contributed to my success. First I have to say that everything I do is for my children. My children are a constant reminder that I have to keep going even when I have my down moments. Second, the cake boss himself, Buddy Valastro. Watching cake boss was the highlight of my days. I would literally be sucked into the television and wondered if I could ever be at his level. The amazing cake work him and his staff created was only a dream for me. From beginning to end, I wanted that. I knew wholeheartedly that this was where I wanted to be. This was my future. Seeing the show gave me hope of someday making it a reality for myself, How did they get there? I felt forced to find a way and here I am, living my dream.
