We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Camila Betancur and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maria Camila, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Being able to live out a spiritual life is key to my well being and success. I’ve always felt it is my calling to make a difference in the world by helping others, and teaching those who are looking for the same knowledge I wanted to learn as I evolved and transition through life, and creating beauty with inspiring messages. When I began my Real Estate carrier, I was attracted by the flexibility to travel and manage my own time, later realizing that Real Estate would be the vehicle to perform and carry out all the above. I am filled with gratitude that I get to make a difference in people’s lives and to me, it’s a tremendous pleasure helping people buy and/or sell their homes as well as fulfilling their dreams. Now I also mentor and coach individuals in similar paths wanting to also successfully blend business and spirituality

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Shortly after becoming a licensed Real Estate agent, my partner and I founded our own brokerage Tejeda Real Estate. With in the brokerage I created my own team, The Macabi group. As a full service South Florida Real Estate team, we work with buyers, sellers and investors in Real Estate transactions spanning all of the price ranges and property types. Wether it be navigating the way for first timers, trying to score the perfect distressed property, rentals, or providing help in the luxury market, The Macabi Group has experienced it all. More over, I have taken my hobby and passion of interior design to the next level by becoming a certified interior designer and opening up my own business Macabi Designs. I have been very fortunate to blend both Real Estate and interior design to bring my clients the most value when purchasing or selling their home.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is full of unique and exciting diversity! I would start by taking her to Wynwood- One of my favorite areas. It is full of restaurants (you have your choice of different cuisines) and all within walking distance. It is artsy and everyone has a relaxed vibe as they bar-hop, take photographs of the artistic graffiti walls, or just hang out in the different lounges. I would drive us to Wynwood in the afternoon to walk around and explore the area and take her to my favorite restaurant KYU, also located in Wynwood, for dinner. The following morning I would take her for brunch at my favorite spot, Eating House, located in Coral Gables. They have guava mimosas, Captain cinnamon crunch Pancakes, and brown sugar bacon! – yes my mouth is watering too. I would then go to a near by beach for the rest of the day. Although everyone loves to shoot for South Beach, I prefer less crowded beaches to just relax and get some sun.

Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
I credit much of my success to taking a deep dive into emotional intelligence and self-development. However no-one achieves success alone. As Melinda Gates says ” If you are successful, it is because somewhere, sometime, someone gave you a life or an idea that started you off in the right direction.” Throughout my life I’ve had many individuals who have pointed me in the right direction, and thought me many lessons. I’ve also had special people who have made a significant impact in my life – They know who they are. More over, I’ve read very impactful books which have truly allowed me to grow and evolve my mindset. “Many Lives, Many Masters’ by Brian L. Weiss, and “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz. You’ll typically find me reading two books at once, a business book and a self-development book so I can definitely attribute some of my success to my reading!
