We had the good fortune of connecting with Alain Lemaire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alain, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic and creative career because I wanted to do something where I had the freedom to express myself freely, without feeling the pressure of conforming myself to the status quo. I also pursued that career because I love the craft, and I knew that I would be able to continuously grow and innovate.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Alain Lemaire, but commonly known as Chef Lemaire, and I am a native of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where I first discovered my interest in cooking. That interest in food grew out of the need to feed myself what I wanted, and when I wanted it. I learned a lot just by watching my mother and grandmother in the kitchen.

I am a Co-owner and Executive Chef of Sensory Delights, a full-service catering company based out of South Florida. I also own and operate the brand “Ou Manje Deja?”which translates to “Did you Eat yet?”

I’ve been fortunate enough to featur on several TV shows: I was the host chef of the “Taste of Haiti” episode of the “Luda Can’t Cook” series on Discovery+ with award winning rapper, actor, restauranteur Chris “Ludacris” Bridges. I was also a contestant on the Food Network’s hit series, Fire Masters, Cutthroat Kitchen, and Chopped.

Throughout my career, I have participated in and featured as a guest chef in numerous food events and festivals throughout the United States and overseas. Most recent events include Charleston Wine & Food Festival, South Beach Wine & Food Festival, Food, Wine, and Fete, and much more.

My passion for what I do is in direct connection to my upbringing. I was raised to never give up, and to always give my ultimate best. We strive to always provide great service, high quality and flavorful meals to all of our guests.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend is in town, I would definitely take them to Wynwood, The Design District, and Brickell area in Miami for food, drinks, and sightseeing. We would definitely check out Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale for food, and boat rides.
As far as beach, it would either be Nikki Beach or anywhere in Fort Lauderdale. I feel that South Beach is overcrowded and too expensive. I would also make sure they visit around the time they have the music event in Little Haiti at the Little Haiti Culture Complex on Fridays.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my team, my colleagues, my wife and kids, and my close friend who have always supported my craft and passion. They are the real backbone to my success, and where I am today.
