We had the good fortune of connecting with Alberto Peinado Garrido and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alberto, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As a real estate agent and loan officer, I help people buy a house that they can call home, where they feel safe to create and care for a family that is the foundation of humanity. Having a home is one of the basic needs of any human being along with food and clothing. Once these needs are met, one can embark on other adventures or enjoy life. I try to have a direct and close relationship with my clients, empathize with them and help them in what will possibly be the most important purchase of their lives. By not only being a real estate agent and also being able to offer financing, I can not only provide a 360 service but I can also help many more people who do not have as many opportunities to buy.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m proud about how I consider every transaction I handle as if a family member or I were the client. I pay attention to every detail and take care of my client even more than they do themselves. Since I am the one with the experience, I believe it is my duty to protect them and achieve the best outcome with the least amount of stress possible. Empathy, and respect for the work and time of others, are fundamental to me. In today’s world, where we are often reduced to mere numbers and it seems no one considers others, I believe that personalized service based on honesty and transparency is crucial. I think there’s no better advertisement than a satisfied client.
I got get to where I am today professionally through a lot of hard work and effort. Anyone who has left the comfort of their family and country to make a living knows that the path is full of obstacles, and the only way to move forward is to never give up and have a clear goal. Nothing in life is achieved without effort. Even if some people are better positioned or have help, without effort and hard work, success is unattainable. Moreover, the less help one receives, the sweeter the success. When I speak of success, I don’t refer to money or material things, but to happiness. In this business, there is no greater satisfaction than a client who is happy and content with your work after a transaction with many obstacles that any other agent would have deemed a lost cause.
This wasn’t easy, I don’t believe anything that brings satisfaction comes easily. Although it might sound trivial, the weather is very important to my mindset for staying positive. I need the sun and light to feel happy and motivated not to give up in the face of adversity. It also helps to see things in perspective. When someone feels that everything is going wrong, and nothing is going well in life, they only need to break down the problems and tackle them one by one, from the easiest to the hardest… following a path, focusing on the next step rather than the whole staircase. Another thing that helps is stopping thinking about oneself and being egocentric, and realizing that you are privileged compared to many other people in the world… In those tough moments, you can’t compare yourself to the top of the pyramid but appreciate how fortunate you are compared to the bottom.
If I have learned something along the way is that You should never consider anything as given or finished, and there is no problem that cannot be solved. You need to focus on small goals to keep moving forward. Also, everyone needs help at some point. There is no shame in asking for help; we are not superheroes, and it is not dishonorable to ask for help when needed. Therefore, it is important to be available when others ask for our help. For me, the sense of community is fundamental, especially when one is far from family and friends.
I know there is a lot of competition in my business, but we are not all the same, as this is not a profession as easy as the bad reputation it has garnered. I strive to provide the most personalized service possible with empathy, hard work, effort, and perseverance. Not even the client themselves will defend their own interests as much as I do. I treat people the way I would like to be treated when I seek the services of another professional; it’s as simple as that.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love history in general, especially the history of cities and how it is reflected through their architecture. Although Miami is a relatively new city and is often portrayed in the media as just beaches and parties, there are always curious corners to discover.
While I enjoy taking my visitors to Vizcaya Museum & Gardens and Deering Estate, my favorite spot is The Ancient Spanish Monastery, both for its beauty and its symbolism to me. It is the cloister of a 12th-century monastery from Spain that was brought over in crates, stone by stone, first to New York and then to Miami, which of course makes it the oldest building in Miami and probably in the USA. The symbolism I refer to is because that monastery was in a town in Segovia very close to my maternal family’s hometown, where I still have a lot of family and where I try to go whenever I visit Spain. It brings back very good childhood memories.
Of course, I would also take them to the most famous spots like Wynwood, Ocean Drive, Little Havana, and the Everglades…
When I go out to lunch or dinner, I really enjoy going to the many Spanish restaurants in the city, knowing that the ingredients are sourced from Spain since I know many of the owners and distributors. Restaurants like Casa Xabi, Cala Millor, Rincon Asturiano… although from time to time I like to visit other places and try different types of food, going to Zuma, Zeru, Rusty Pelican… As for going out, I like open-air spots like Joia Beach, Sugar, or Rosa Sky.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Both in the person I am and in my work ethic and effort, my family has always been an example to follow. From my parents and siblings to my grandparents and uncles. The humble origins of my family have been a fundamental pillar in the formation of my character and my values. From an early age, I learned the importance of hard work, sacrifice and continuous effort. These principles not only helped me achieve my goals, but also forged in me a work ethic and perseverance that guide me in all facets of my life. The experience of overcoming obstacles and working tirelessly to improve circumstances has taught me to value each achievement and to face challenges with determination and resilience.
