We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Slatapolsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alejandra, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
There are three key habits that have helped me succeed:
1. Playing to my strengths and delegating the rest: I have learned to identify my strengths and capabilities, as well as those of others around me. By focusing on what I am good at and enjoy, I can naturally perform better and be more productive. I also delegate tasks that are not in my area of expertise to others who are better suited for them. This allows me to leverage my strengths and maximize my efficiency.
2. Balancing the big picture and execution: I make sure to dedicate at least 2 hours a week to strategically thinking about the business, its growth opportunities, and creative solutions. This helps me stay focused on the big picture and long-term goals. At the same time, I prioritize execution by creating a clear path forward and taking small steps every day to achieve my objectives. This helps me stay on track and make progress toward my goals.
3. Taking breaks when needed: I recognize the importance of self-care and the impact of fatigue on my performance. When I am tired, I make a conscious effort to stop working and take a break. Whether it’s going for a walk, taking a pause, meditating, or talking to friends, I prioritize recharging myself before continuing with my tasks. This allows me to maintain my energy levels and productivity in the long run.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
With Gabriela Pulido we started Scalto.
Gabriela and I met while working on a project to rebrand a financial services company. Despite having different perspectives, we shared a passion for building brands. Over coffee, Gabriela expressed how logos and images were just the surface, and she wanted to capture the essence of an organization in a visual way. I shared my experience of companies needing communication strategies that align with their goals and ambitions.
Inspired, we created our Scalex program after months of research and brainstorming. It’s a series of challenging conversations that clarify a business’s strategy, ambition, and position in the marketplace. With this foundation, we then work on messaging, branding, and marketing strategies to make the vision a reality.
We believe that having a shared vision makes building a business easier. Every month, we revisit our vision board to stay focused on our business ambition amid the day-to-day challenges of entrepreneurship. Our program provides a platform for leaders and their teams to have difficult conversations and hold each other accountable for contributing to the long-term vision with their actions, priorities, and investments.
Building a business requires vision, execution, and stamina. Our Scalex program helps leaders set goals that align with their bigger ambition and fosters a culture of accountability for driving long-term success.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to breakfast at Wynwood, a visit to the PAMM museum and lunch at Coconut Grove. After that, I would go to visit the Biltmore and maybe spend the afternoon at its pool or the spa.
At night, I would visit the beach, which gets quieter in some areas like Bal Harbor.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Gabriela Pulido, my co-founder Rodolfo Oppenheimer, one of my mentors
Many other professionals along the way
