Meet Michelle DiMarco | Global Estate Advisor with The Curated Collection Group at ONE Sotheby’s International Realty

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle DiMarco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Perseverance, as cliche as it sounds, is the key to achieving success. Never stop believing in yourself, both personally and professionally. Whether it’s securing a multi-million dollar sale or pushing through a challenging workout, you’ve got to see yourself through to the very end. Success often takes longer to achieve than you convince yourself it should.

Don’t sell yourself short on what you are capable of achieving. Give yourself an unlimited number of attempts and total freedom to make mistakes, ask questions, and lean on those you trust. Maintain a positive mindset and surround yourself with like-minded people who want to see you succeed. I’m grateful to work alongside such talented individuals at the Curated Collection Group at ONE Sotheby’s International Realty.

If there’s one thing the past few years have taught me, it’s that it’s never too late to discover new paths toward a more fulfilling life. After spending over a decade as a Fort Lauderdale small business owner, I decided to move to Miami and pursue a career in luxury real estate. I’ll admit that making such major changes felt daunting at first. But now, it’s clear to me that I’m on the right track. You’ve got to be relentless on your path to success. If you trust the process and know your worth, your perseverance will pay off in the end.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a born-and-raised Floridian, I’ve always felt a deep sense of connection to my local community. I know South Florida like the back of my hand. It’s my love of Florida— from the beautiful beaches to the vibrant people— that drew me into real estate and philanthropy. Sharing my extensive knowledge of South Florida geography ensures my clients find the perfect place to call home— as well as plenty of local hangouts and hidden gems to enjoy in their new neighborhood.

I was born and raised in North Port Richey, Florida, by a single mom from Cuba, who taught me to appreciate my Cuban heritage and show gratitude through giving back. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology (and taking a few years to expand my global horizons), I launched Lilac and Lilies, a Fort Lauderdale fashion boutique. But after more than a decade as a small business owner, I was ready to connect with my community in new ways.

My King Charles Cavalier, Lily, and I moved from Fort Lauderdale to Miami to launch my new career in luxury real estate. I’ll admit that making such major life changes was no easy feat, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. Becoming a Global Real Estate Advisor with the Curated Collection Group at ONE Sotheby’s International Realty renewed my love for my home state and its people.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Where do I even begin?! As a Florida native, I’ve got food and travel recommendations galore. I’m constantly sharing upcoming local events and restaurant guides on my Instagram page, @michelledimarco_realestate.

I recommend anyone spending a weekend in Miami visits the Design District first. It’s got all the art, food, and shopping you could possibly ask for, perfect for making the most of a short trip. Afterward, head to Carbone for some of the best pasta outside of Italy. Start the next day right with a workout at Anatomy Fitness in Midtown before heading to Soho Beach House for cocktails by the pool.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Success isn’t something you can create on your own. It requires support and collaboration. I’m lucky enough to have incredible friends, family, and colleagues who lift me up and believe in me every step of the way. From my Abuela to my Curated Collection Group team at One Sotheby’s International Realty, there’s no shortage of strong, intelligent women in my life. Being raised by a single mom taught me the importance of hard work and gratitude. Each morning, I fill out my Five Minute Journal to start the day in a positive headspace. Even a few short minutes of mindfulness can make a big difference throughout the day.

Success also requires community. Joining Anatomy Fitness in Midtown has been a transformative part of my recent move to Miami. To me, fitness isn’t just about creating a healthy body. It’s about building a healthy mind too. The rest is just as important as the work. Whether it’s a week-long beach vacation or a fifteen-minute read before bed, you’ve got to give yourself time to slow down and recharge. If you’re looking for something to read, highly suggest The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. It’s such a great reminder of why you’ve got to believe in yourself and know your worth.
