We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexa Rosario and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexa, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Art has always been apart of my life. My earliest memories consisted of me drawing on the walls, or begging my mom to buy me the 100 pack crayon box. Colors speak to me in ways words don’t. I found normal tasks mundane and craved variety and change of environment. I thrived in the creative classes, art, and music. Makeup also came to me at a young age. The natural inclination I had to put colors and create art on my face. The curiosity of it all. My parents were supportive of me no matter what my age was. For my 5th grade graduation, my mom gifted me a full face of Benefit Cosmetics makeup. She took me to the counter and told me, get whatever you want, you deserve it. Who would have thought that day would completely change my life. Having her support helped me have a creative outlet freely to express myself. And ever since the age of 10 makeup has been a passion of mine. Also growing up around the time of the most iconic years on Youtube during the beauty industry boom, also shaped my love. It has always been who I am, and I continue to heal my inner child in what I practice every day in my line of work. Showing women of all ages beauty is within us, and art can be created from anyone.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Professional Makeup Artist based out of Miami, Florida. As a makeup artist, on the exterior can seem like a superficial career. However working in the beauty industry has connected me with such amazing, powerful, inspiring females. I think what sets me apart from others is the love of helping people. Helping them see the beauty we already see in them. As women, we are constantly reminded of toxic beauty standards, and my goal is to show women none of those things matter. When you’re in my chair I will always remind you how incredible and beautiful you are inside and out. And if the result of that is a great glam then so be it! Getting to where I have been so lucky to be at has been a challenge to say the least. You really have to push yourself everyday and remind yourself, just be 1% better than you were yesterday, and don’t give up on yourself. You have to be your number 1 fan, no one else will be that for you. Enjoy your journey every step of the way, your hard work will show results when it is your time! Nothing good ever comes easy, always water your path and flowers will bloom. My main message to the world is to trust yourself and your purpose. We are all here for a limited time, and everyone deserves to live the life we deserve. I never thought in a million years i’d be in the position i’m in now, and not a day goes by that i’m not grateful for this life. Traveling all over the world to connect and glam people who make the journey that much better.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im a coffee girl and wellness girl through and through. If someone was visiting i’d take them to Facade in Coral Gables for breakfast. A great place that is farm to table and the vibe is on point. For a coffee date I would go to Lucky Coffee Co, a pop up coffee shop in the heart of Little Havana. Super trendy but true to Miami’s nature. A must visit for me is always Key Biscayne to go to Crandon Park, a less packed way to enjoy the beach in Miami. For dinner I would drive down to Kendall and have pizza at Vice City Pizza. The most delicious Detroit Style pizza. My favorite is the Pepperoni with hot honey, a MUST try!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom will always be the first person I will thank for encouraging me to be creative and never dimming my light.
