We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra Bello and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandra, how do you think about risk?
Whether it be taking on a chance that is slightly out of your comfort zone or doing something completely foreign to you, to me it is more so about the experience of taking a risk. With that experience can come an opportunity to flourish in your career path. Slowly but surely, pushing myself to keep this type of mindset has helped me to grow on both of my platforms, connect with people, and find my overall niche.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
From a very young age I found my passion for drawing which then led to my passion for all things beauty and cosmetics. Once I started high school in 2012, I began to play around with vibrant colors and learned different methods. What always fascinated me was learning to re-create what I would on a sketch pad on my face. As an example creating a sunset look on my eye or a gradient effect. By the time I started college is when I finally stepped out of my comfort zone and began wearing complete make up looks out in public whether it looked the best or not. Eventually, I pushed myself to start an Instagram so that I could start bringing in a clientele. Finally, in December of 2019 I decided to start a TikTok page with lots of doubt of course. However, pushing myself to take a step further each time has allowed me to grow a following of almost 80,000 followers, be able make connections and collaborate with many brands. Moreover, I began to realize my other passions aside from putting together beauty videos such as modeling and now being a comedic figure. To many people it may seem like too much to juggle. However, at the end of the day it all keeps me going because I enjoy doing all of it and if it is one lesson that I have taken from this journey is never stopping. Even when the reality is that it is not always easy to constantly be satisfying the public especially, when social media is constantly evolving, I always keep in mind that one may never know who is out there paying attention to you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For all of my non-Miamian friends I always have them take note that what Miami is glamorous for is it’s night, food and beach life. If I had a friend visiting I would immediately them to the hottest food spots based off of what we both enjoy of course. I would even make sure to throw in a couple of mom and pops spots.
Afterwards, I would show them some trendy and local bars. On a Wednesday and Thursday take them to the Wynwood walls and any other picture worthy spots. Then of course on the weekend spent all day, every day at the beach and maybe even go parasailing.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am grateful to have very supportive friends who encourage me to always do better however, the one person who I give all of the credit to is my Mother. She has and always will be my number one cheerleader. Overall, if it weren’t for having a supportive family I would not be the person I am today.
