We had the good fortune of connecting with Alia Perr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
“Do what you love and the money will follow” – Marsha Sinetar

Happiness has always been my goal in life and I believe that we create our own happiness. I remember watching my parents struggle financially in careers that they hated and I knew that I didn’t want to end up that way. Starting my business has afforded me the ability to create the life I want while doing what I love.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Young at Heart Counseling is a therapy private practice that offers services to children ages 7 and up, teens, adults, couples, and families. I work with a team of talented therapists that offers unique approaches to tackle any issues someone might be struggling with. Our style of therapy is collaborative as we really encourage our clients to be proactive in their treatment. I believe my team is what sets us apart from other group practices as we offer kind of a “one-stop shop” approach to therapy. In our office, there is a certified EMDR therapist, a Marriage and Family Therapist, Child Psychologist, and a Life-Coach all under one roof! I am most proud of being part of a team that has the ability to make a difference in people’s lives.

While I wouldn’t say building this business has been easy, I feel blessed to be doing what I love and have really enjoyed the process of getting to where I am. There are still many lessons to be learned and experiences to be had and I am looking forward to the future.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a tough one because there are so many people that deserve shoutouts in my life! Having support from family and friends is huge and I couldn’t have done it without them. Starting a business as a new mom comes with many unique challenges and I wouldn’t be where I am today without my fiance, Brandon Gordon. From cooking dinner, pick-ups and drop-offs, to bath/bedtime, Brandon is always there for anything our family needs. My success is our success and I’m so grateful for you. Thank you!
