We had the good fortune of connecting with Alina Freyre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alina, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking is something that seems uncomfortable and scary at first, but there is no reward without risk. There are so many times that we have a great idea and we dream about it, plan it, and even celebrate the success in our minds, but without taking the risk and actually putting it into action, it’s just a dream. With my business, I finally took the risk and I am celebrating the success!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a chef turned baker and I absolutely love what I do. I specialize in decorated cookies, meringue, and macarons and they are all custom and ever-changing. With any job, you have to work hard every day to be successful. It has not been easy but since I love what I do, I can’t say it’s been hard. There are many more things I still want to do, skies the limit.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I was younger, I would probably say something different, but since I am close to 50 (lol) I would go somewhere in the Caribbean that would include beautiful waters, a jeep to roam around in, and just relaxation. There would be absolutely no itinerary since I live my life on a schedule.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In 2016, I made a decision to make some major changes in my life. I was in a job/career that did not fulfill me, I was overweight and my marriage was not where I wanted it to be. I read the book “UnF@#k Yourself: Get of your Brain and into your Life” and it was a game-changer. I proceeded to lose 52 pounds, left my job, and started my passion and my marriage is better than ever. I realized that we spend so much time daydreaming and not enough doing. I changed all that and my life keeps getting better!
