Meet Alisha | Photographer & Graphic Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alisha, why did you pursue a creative career?
Pursuing a creative career came from my love of spending time with my grandfather. He was a photographer and a painter, an amazing one at that! Hearing how he spoke about the beauties of creating, inspired me and pushed me to find my own beauties of creating. I’ve always loved looking at the world behind my camera and capturing the beauty I see since I was a child, but it became something serious to me when I realized our society is oddly filled with insecure people who don’t realize their true beauty. That is when The Beholder Photography was birthed and I fully pursued a creative career. Not to mention I have a Bachelors in Graphic Design.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Beholder Photography still has a long way to go, but I am most grateful for in this journey is that I started. I overcame the crazy feeling of imposter syndrome and started realizing that what I brought to this creative table meant something. I continued to show up authentically and with love and watched opportunities gravitate towards me. Honestly that is one of the biggest lessons i’ve learned, show up authentically always with love and what’s for you will come to you. I would love for when people hear The Beholder Photography, they remember the experience they had in front of my lens or are eager to be in front of my lens to truly experience someone beholding you like The Most High does, flawed but perfectly made.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend and I are very chill foodies that enjoys sightseeing. A weekend for us looks like going to South Beach for a beautiful sunrise and an early dip. Definitely having to stop in at Miami Cafe in Wynwood and take a walk around after looking at the Wynwood walls. Of course, we’d have to get some art in and a little photo shoot session. Who is not getting in a little shopping done at Aventura Mall? I know I am. We’d enjoy a rooftop experience at Rosa Sky Rooftop for some drinks and bites. And we’re definitely catching the sunset at South Beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I spoke about my grandfather who was my biggest inspiration, but I wouldn’t be where I am today without my mother. She truly is my biggest cheerleader; rooting me on in this life. But I honestly would like to shoutout all of the individuals that allowed me to behold them and capture something special for them. To the ones that saw my potential and took a chance with my work, I thank you. It’s truly been a pleasure capturing such beautiful people over the years.
