We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Vianez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, Brazil filled with a very warm culture of people! I believe this humble upbringing has molded me into the fun loving girl I am today living in beautiful South Florida! The people of Villa Velha are always willing to help their neighbors and this has stuck with me throughout my life and into my nursing career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In Brazil I was trying to get into med school for 2 years, but it was very difficult so I decided to go out of the country to improve my English. I moved to the United States 7 years ago and at first I only wanted to stay 3 months to study, but I ended up staying permanently to pursue my dreams. I’ve always cared for others and I am passionate about taking care of people. The quickest pathway into the healthcare industry and to achieve my dream of working in a hospital was by completing a paramedic program. I graduated in 2020 and started working night shifts at the Emergency Room. It was very challenging being from another country and English not being my first language. I am very proud of what I have accomplished and I’m extremely grateful of how far I have come. One thing I learned along this journey is to never give up on your dreams and that we are able and capable of do anything we want when we commit to yourself. I am currently continuing education and starting a nursing program where I can’t wait to be able to help out and do more for my patients.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give credit to my mom, who has been always there for me and helped me when I was lost. She’s been always my best friend and my everything. I will be forever grateful for her in my life.
