We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Lubie, Aprn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success as a family Nurse Practitioner and aesthetic injector is my commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Achieving excellence in my field requires a dedication to studying and staying current with advancements in aesthetic practices. My focus on delivering natural-looking results has also been key to my success. By prioritizing the well-being and satisfaction of my clients, and combining that with rigorous training and expertise, I ensure that each treatment enhances their natural beauty while meeting high standards of care. This blend of dedication and client-centered approach has been crucial in building a successful brand.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a passion for aesthetics. Raised in Miami by South African parents, I knew I wanted to be a nurse since I was 15. After graduating from the University of Florida in 2020 and working through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic as a critical care nurse, I pursued my Master’s in Nursing from the University of Miami, graduating in 2023. Transitioning into aesthetics, I now focus on injectables and skin care, bringing a blend of bedside experience and aesthetic expertise to my practice. The path wasn’t easy—balancing rigorous academic demands, long clinical hours, and the emotional weight of critical care nursing—but these challenges shaped my resilience and dedication. What sets me apart is my commitment to natural beauty and subtle enhancements, grounded in a deep understanding of patient care. Beyond work, I find happiness in traveling, walking my dog, and enjoying a good book. My journey has taught me the value of perseverance and the joy of making others feel their best.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting Miami, our day would include
A walk around Brickell Key for a morning workout and a view followed by Crema for a quick brunch. Then, we would make our way to the Design District for some shopping or window shopping. Next, we’d stop by The Salty for an afternoon coffee and donut. We would finish the day with dinner at KYU in Wynwood for the best Asian-inspired food, and then grab drinks at Casadonna for the great atmosphere.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is dedicated to a few contributors to my journey. Firstly, I want to acknowledge Selfie Aesthetic, where I have grown as a nurse practitioner and as an injector. Additionally, I’m grateful to the University of Florida and the University of Miami, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing, respectively. Their academic and clinical programs laid the foundation for my career. Lastly, I want to recognize Baptist Hospital, where I spent three formative years working as a bedside nurse. The experience and skills I gained there were crucial in shaping my professional path. Each of these institutions and experiences has played a significant role in my success, and I’m extremely grateful for their influence and support.
