Meet Amuneki Popley | Artist/Audio Engineer/Producer/Choreographer/Insurance Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amuneki Popley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amuneki, what do you attribute your success to?
One word, determination. When you see the light at the end of the tunnel keep it pushing no matter how hard it gets you’ll get there eventually. It’s a mindset imagine yourself walking through burning flames as if it’s not burning to get to an object. Same concept, keep it going as if the battle field is invisible and you’re invincible.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First of all I’ve been doing music since the baby stage, I was choir lead at the age of 9 playing instruments. My main instrument was the drums. I play a little keyboard & guitar but they aren’t my strongest. I started recording myself at the age of 16 after a bad experience at a recording studio in Queens, NY. I told myself I have the brain capacity to learn and master any craft so I used YouTube to educate myself in the field of audio engineering and beat making.
I came a long way and it took a lot of trial and errors. Don’t be afraid to fail, that’s how you’re able to make adjustments after seeing where you went wrong.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fort Lauderdale and Miami, no doubt. I go to rock bar a lot to have drinks with my friends and relax. The jumbo specials are always going there and the entire area is a vibe, it’s on the strip at Las Olas, you can never go wrong on that strip. If I have the time I’ll take the drive to Miami to jet ski, I love to jet ski. I’ll jet ski every day of the week if I had the time. I go to Club Vault sometimes along with a few other local spots but it’s going to give you that experience on a Friday night. They host an event called tropical fridays I’ve being going there for years and now it’s so big I can hardly make a reservation for a section

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If anyone deserves any credit it’s definitely Mr Carter aka Jay Z. I spent my entire life admiring his success. He changed the perspective a lot in our community. Whenever you hear Rapper you can say Forbes and it don’t sound weird.
